  • honestly at that age id have killed the witch on day one. she did cut a pie with a machete lol that was pretty badass. I still find it funny too the first step to eating her house is to smash her windows lol, real subtle lol

  • a month of captivity and i started thinking those children deserve death. Then the witch being oursmarted i figured unbelievable retards out smarting retards. I love how the step mother is dead, No explanation shes just dead. lol hilarious.

  • I first saw this when I was 10 or so, it scared the crap out of me.

  • The Grimms wrote about pedophiles, cannibals, rapists, murderers and every other evil bastard you could think of!

  • At 0:17, did the witch say "I'm going to eat now" or did she say "it's been a week now?"

  • @afriendofbean the second one.

  • @anzolettilino Thank you.

  • @afriendofbean you are welcome.

  • "Cooking and killing. Killing and cooking. Oh what a lovely life."

    riiiiiiiiiiiiggghhht. slowly backing away now.

  • Oh Hansel ! Don't be upset, please? I only did it to save you and I am so hungery.

  • How did the step mother die?

  • @SelenaGomez772131960 It was either by starvation or, it was the same reason why the witch died since the stepmother and the witch are both played by Joan Collins where many people here on YouTube wonder if the stepmother disguised herself as the witch just to get rid of Hansel and Gretel forever. Also, some people wonder if the stepmother and witch are both sisters. I wonder if they're mother and daughter. Maybe once the witch died, the stepmother could have killed herself out of sadness.

  • @SelenaGomez772131960 The father killed her

  • So... did the step-mother die? or was she killed?

  • @theAlchemistfox yes. Maybe she got sick? killed herself? She was kind of melodramatic, so she could have been driven to kill herself, maybe she did it out of guilt?

  • @theAlchemistfox The father killed her

  • The gingerbread witch is creepy

  • How did Bridget Anderson died?

  • @dania4510001 She died from an accidental overdose of drugs and alcohol.

  • Witch damn near had an orgasm!!

  • THE DOOR IS SIMPLY LATCHED SHUT! ALL GRETEL HAS TO DO IS OPEN THE F'N DOOR!!!!

  • 0:58, looks like she is having a big one. LOL

  • Just read on IMDB that the actress that played Gretel ODed years ago RIP Gretel : (

  • She should watch him eat

  • "Well its easy for you to say

you sit in a little cage all day

while I'm running to and fro

    fetch this, boil that, c-c-c-c-cook!"

    Gretel is so adorable! <3

R.I.P Bridgette Andersen, you were a great actress!

  • knew she was a violent little murderess from the first moment i clapped eyes on her.

what, no Moral Of The Story, shelley, to end this tale of dysfunction, attempted murder, cannibalism, murder and more murder?

  • Great pushing-into-oven technique, Grethel! Now just duplicate it on the stepmother.

  • @JakobDailes

well, it's implied that the witch is the stepmother, that's why she's dead too....

  • worm food! heheheheh...

  • I love this. One of the best H&G witches I have seen. She is creepy, but gets into her role and has a macabre kind of charm.

  • @ccipollini1984 you should check out lynn redgrave in the movie version. she's also one of the best i've ever seen

  • "I slammed the door on her and I'm glad she's dead"

from the mouths of babes, I guess...

  • sounds like what almost every 35+ year old school teacher wants!-----boy flesh 15 years and younger to play with. ha ha

  • ooooooooooooo poor wich and step mother. are they both in heaven

  • @sesaya25 not heaven hell

  • both children are good actors

  • 09:06 The Associate Director is just called 'Amy'.

  • Haha ya i was just thinking that same thing that does sound like that song

  • the ending music sounds like Some Day My Prince Will Come, from Snow White! LOL!

  • I like the girl called gretel and she's so cute and adorable

  • @hoichina yeah to bad she died so young

  • "Cooking and killing! Killing and cooking!... ohhh, it's a lovely life!"

  • "Do not deny my pleasure! Stick out your finger! No no no! that will not do at all! I want mounds of young boy flesh; quivering jibering flesh.. ohhh oooh, I grow weak with happiness at the very thought of it! But I must be patient... Patience is a virtue that I have heard. We need food, more food! And YOU, no exercising in there! Just eating and eating!"

  • Now it'd be messed up if Hansel and Gretel had eaten those gingerbread cookies when they first found the house. Of course, they wouldn't have known at the time, but it's still disturbing...

  • That's true. (If they did eat them, it would be scary once the gingerbread kids turned back into human, there would be sparks inside Hansel and Gretel's stomach where the kids came out back together instead of broken in pieces after being eaten since there were sparks from 7:04-7:08). I guess the reason Hansel and Gretel didn't eat the gingerbread kids was because, they were focusing more on the candy house with lots of flavors where the house looked more delicious than the gingerbread kids.

  • "your step mother is dead" hmm...good way to break it to the children, and no sadness on his part...suspicious much? ;)

  • Although this is pretty cheesie, the story is pretty demented, especially for a kid's story. This terrified me when I was a kid, almost as much as Return to Oz did.

  • i'm melting im melting...or in this case im burning im burning

  • Why don't they just stay and eat the house? since the witch is dead...

  • @SanosukeEiji thats what i would do lol ;)

  • they kiss ?

  • I just realized that the stepmother was also the witch too. lol!

  • its good to see it here..ive watched it in the Philippines when i was young.........

  • She Has A Breast On Her Chin 4:80! LOL And Her Face

  • this ish is cold blooded!!

  • This has taken me down memory lane, very nostalgic. I remember when I was young, I was really scared by this and Red Riding Hood's Wolf. I even remember having nightmares being so scared! Wonderful story!

  • Trip down the memorey lane. Thank you for posting this video. Loved FTT as a child. Still do (blush)

  • 2:53 awwwwwww

  • lol ORGASM 0:56

  • I just love a good old fashion fairytale, I just recently graduated as an elementary teacher and I just hate how it's not encouraged anymore for kids to read these traditional fairytales cause they're considered violent and they supposedly teach kids the wrong things to do, so now teachers are encouraging kids to read different versions of these stories where the villians have a change of heart or something it's ridiculous. Somethings need to stay the same!

  • @kay2be2 from one recent elem. ed. graduate to another... i couldn't agree more!

  • @VenomOXP thank u! I guess we'll be the few teachers out there to teach kids that's ok to push someone into a burning oven as long as it's self defense, heehee. Good luck with everything, we did not pick an easy field.

  • @kay2be2 this is true. it takes tough ppl. i guess if you can stomach a story like this than you can stomach a few years in the classroom. Lets just hope the kids don't push us into the oven! lol

  • OMG I loved this show when I was small. Thanks so much for posting.

  • cool

  • i bet hanzel could slide through that bar :-)

  • The scene where Gretel pushes the witch into the oven scared the hell out of me when I was a kid. I remember it so clearly, like it was yesterday. I had to cover my ears so I wouldn't hear the witch screaming.

  • Stepmother is nothing more but a fleshy axe wound buried in the back yard. What a happy ending!

  • Mountains of young boy flesh!?!?

  • @jholl78

    she totally came as well.

  • why doesnt she open the door to the cage so she and her brother can both run away

  • ... if I returned to my father's home after the second time he tried to ditch me in the woods, he'd end up in an oven too. Just sayin.

  • The father and the two children should have went back to the house and ate the house

  • 2 against one come on lol

  • "No No No!!!"

  • That witch just creamed her panties talking about fat rolls.

  • that door was unlocked the whole time !!!!!!!!

  • i know they could have killed the witch at anytime lol

  • a bit shady at the end with the step moms death(murder?) and all

  • THANKS

  • They should tell this story to more kids so they would have more reason to put down their video games and McD's and get off their lardy asses.

  • 0:55 looks like she just got done masturbating. LMAO!

  • At 7:13, was that boy who came on screen with the overalls and white shirt the same boy who was in the cage with Hansel in the beginning as soon as the witch put Hansel in the cage?

  • Ginger kids could've said thanks!

  • That's a good point. Maybe either they didn't know that it was Hansel and Gretel who turned them back into kids since they were non living Gingerbread cookies who were not alive because of the witch until she was killed. Another reason why the Gingerbread kids didn't thank them was that, maybe they must have thought that Hansel and Gretel were Gingerbread cookies too who turned back, and a third reason could be that they forgot to thank them because they were excited to be turned back.

  • piss me up when I see that witch!

  • I remember seeing a different version of "Hansel and Gretal" performed onstage, and after the witch is shoved into the oven, you see this skeletal hand try to grab the children for a moment until it goes back in...now that would've upped the scare factor here...

  • Its obvious that he killed his wife!

  • LMAO he says "Your step-mother is dead! With a huge smile on his face! " LOL

  • lol

  • Also, I think it's hilarious how that just say she's dead but don't even go on to say what happened to her.

Also, if that wa smy Dad I would be pissed at him! lol

  • @Jonaries

yeah he totally kicked her ass.

  • @Jonaries haha totally!

  • @Jonaries

If Joan Collins was my wife, I'd do the same thing!

  • @Jonaries no; He divorsed his wife or she fell down the well and killed herselfe.

  • How did the witch know Hansel and Gretel's names since they never told her their names? I know that Hansel said Gretel's name while they were in the witch's bed (the witch must have listened to Hansel secretly as she was looking outside through her broken window that Gretel ate) but, Gretel didn't say Hansel's name. Or maybe I wonder that the reason why the witch knew their names because, since she's a witch, she must have magic powers to read minds and out of magic, she knew their names.

  • Ironic that Gretel only thinks to flip the latch and free Hansel in one second flat after the witch dies. Why didn't she just pack the food in a satchel instead of burying it, flip the latch and free him at an earlier point, and abscond with him and the food into the woods. Derrrrr lol

  • I guess the reason why she didn't free Hansel earlier was because, a little earlier in the story as the witch said that she was going to fix the window, Gretel asked her what she could do, and the witch told her to just go outside and do whatever children do, then she picked up a knife and pointed it to Gretel telling her not to try to run away to get help (probably meaning that she will stab her with the knife if she does try). So I guess this is the reason why she didn't free him earlier.

  • No I don't think so. The witch threatened she would eat Hansel immediately if Gretel was away getting help. Gretel should have freed Hansel when she was delivering the food (she had a month to plan this), and set him free while the witch was in the house or asleep, which would have given them more than enough time to both run away together (with the food) The witch is bent and osteoporotic, she wouldn't be able to run far. lol

  • That's a very good point. Unless maybe Gretel was also trying to figure out a way for her to turn the gingerbread cookies back into children, even though Gretel was probably scared, and she also probably wanted to figure out a way to try to defeat the witch, which she did.

Also, even though the witch is very old on a cane, maybe she has magic powers as a witch where she would've been able to find out where Hansel and Gretel are and where they have run away too. (This is just my guess).

  • I've often wondered about that myself. The witch hadn't even locked the cage, as she didn't have a key. Gretel could have simply waited until the witch was out of sight, and then opened the cage, and they'd make a break for it. Of course then there wouldn't have been much of a story.

  • @Garrettk41 ah, but remember, she is a Witch, and at the time, witches were highly feared and thought to have great terrible powers, so if they did run, she could've lost their scent, realized they were missing, and fly after them!

  • True that, but then again, if she has such a bad sense of smell, it might take her a while to figure out which direction to search in. Still, you never know.

  • This was one of my favorites from the series.

  • I must say that Joan Collins impressed me very much! People don't give her enough credit for the good actress that she is.

  • Whoa! think for a minute of all the ptsd cases that would come out of this story!

  • wait..so The girl who played Gretel died? wow..thats crazy ..anybody know when? and from what? I think somebody that is what some sort of overdose...anyone that has more details I would appreciate it! THX!

  • The girl who played as Gretel (her real name is Bridgette Andersen) died on May 18, 1997, and she died from an accidental overdose of drugs and alcohol.

  • really???

  • Yes that's what she died from.

  • Thank You for Putting this video up..I used to watch this all the time when I was young ...in the 1980's..we used to rent this from the video store.(along w/ all the other fairie tale theatre shows) Hansel & Gretel is my all time fav.I recently bought the DVD's Fairie Tale Theatre of 'Goldilocks &the 3 Bears &'Little Red Riding Hood' .I found them @ Walgreens for just.$5 Each!

*I Love the dialogue between the witch & Gretel.some of it is just soo funny..especially when they banter back & forth

  • Thanx a ton for uploading this.. I was searching this movie for years as it was the first hollywood movie I saw on TV when I was a kid.. have attached many fond memories with it & the Nostalgia that is associated with the scenes.. I would like to thank u frm the bottom of my heart! Bless ya..

  • Good thing Hansel & Gretel didn't eat the gingerbread earlier. :-D

  • I'm sure the witch doesn't have a job (she couldn't have a job in the middle of the forest since of course, there are no stores, offices, etc. around) so if the witch doesn't have a job, I wonder where she gets all that food from to make into a candy house and I wonder where she gets the food from to cook and feed children (she probably doesn't have money to buy food so I'm not sure where she gets all that food from).

  • Clearly she utilizes a courier service from the nearest hamlet, which she pays for by selling the children's skeletons or by sexually servicing the courier.

  • Comment removed

  • I think she gets the food by her magical powers,of course , she is a witch after all.

  • Yes that's true. She probably gets food using her magical powers. The reason why I wondered where the food was coming from was because, I never saw her using magic in the story.

  • Step-mother = witch

    or

    Step-mother = witch's sister

    any ideas?

  • Maybe the stepmother was the witch's sister because, if the stepmother was the witch, she couldn't of disguised herself as a witch by running away in the woods from Hansel and Gretel's father (the father probably would've followed her to the candy house and found Hansel and Gretel if she was the witch disguising herself). So maybe the witch is the stepmother's older sister who are both interested as sisters in not being nice to kids.

  • In any case, this story has none too positive a view on women.

  • I'd say it comes down on adults in general

  • @LowellMorgan on the other hand, it is Gretel, the girl, that wits out the witch. So it is even, I'd say. ;-)

  • At the end, was the witch trying to cook Gretel instead of Hansel since Gretel got more fat than Hansel since Gretel has eaten more food than Hansel? I thought this since because, the witch said at 5:25 that she has a surprise for Gretel which she did change her mind about who to eat even though she said "no" to Gretel that she didn't change her mind. (Probably I wonder once she cooked and ate Gretel, she probably would've let Hansel run free since he never got fat for her to eat).

  • RIP Bridgette Anderson!

  • I know this is a strange question but, for the show because of old age, was the witch blind from 0:34-0:36, 3:14-3:16, and 3:42-3:45 since she couldn't see that Hansel was holding out a stick instead of his finger? Or, I wonder maybe that the witch wasn't paying attention whether Hansel was sticking out either his finger or a stick. (She was probably mostly focusing and thinking about fatness and not looking where she was touching).

  • The witch was meant to have been short-sighted and not able to tell the difference from the stick for Hansel's finger.

  • Not necessarily blind, but she clearly has poor eyesight, possibly a side effect of Multiple Schlerosis, since she seems to find fat kids so attractive. Liking fatty meat is one thing, but the way she waxes on about underage pudginess is more than a little unsettling.

  • I'm 25 and this show still creeps me out. The woods scenes and the witch was done very well. They could never do a show like this nowadays, since they pick on fat kids.

  • This is my favorite version of Hansel & Gretel. :D thank you for posting it!

  • I wasn't sure whether the father at the end was either crying or praying that Hansel and Gretel were missing since he says that he thanks the Lord that they're home.

  • who would push a little old lady into and oven if i saw that happen i would puch gretel and save the witch

  • rolls of Fat! mounds of jiggling young boy flesh!

i stand corrected, THIS is the best movie version made. before i thought the modern movie was better but nope this one is.

  • ...I sometimes wonder if that diry-old tramp is still out there pussy-baiting another loser or if her remains are buried at the bottom of some filty swamp from some jealoused notorous wifebeater!

  • Joan Collins reminds me of my brother's former girlfriend --- cunning and sneaky; she tricked him of him money while neglected "her" children (from another loser); my mom caught her shopping with another dude, and that was her last ride in our family!

  • They should have taken pieces of the house or food from inside to live off of for awhile...or they might as well just go back n live in the candy house

  • They could've done that since they were probably very hungry but, they were more interested in getting back home since I'm sure they missed their father very much (but not their stepmother).

  • wait a minute. No key? All she did was run and throw the door to the prison open. They could have just run? wtf/

  • " Do not DENY me my pleasha"

  • "I want ROLLS and ROLLS of FAT!!!! FAT FAT FAT FAT."

The witch would love America's childhood obesity epidemic.

  • ha ha old witch had an orgasm at 0:57

  • 5:12-5:16 Gretel FINALLY stands up to the witch!!

  • thats awful! "gretel have you gotten fatter?" if my big brother said that to me id kick his ass! hahahaha

  • lmao!!

  • "We shall live together in great happiness..."

well, until they starve to death.

  • I guess the only thing to do is just hunt for food!!

  • Gretal kicked that witch's butt!

    YEAH!

And all the children were returned to normal. Good. I love this fairytale.

  • she said young boy flesh...lol

  • no doubt...hahahaha he gave her a bone to feel on...LOL

  • you don't have to ask for my bone ;)

  • If you think about it, Hansel and Gretel is really the most psychotic children's story ever told.

  • so what the fuck.. happened to the step mom

  • She was the witch, in a way.

  • Um... so the kids she had eaten previously magically come back to life?? And then they all run off in separate ways into the forest?? Um, I don't get it.... lol

  • when i saw this as a kid it really freaked me out. I didn't know how low budget it was.

  • was it on channel 4,early 90s?

  • Basically, the idea is, the witch used magic to seduce the father, and talked him into abandoning the children. Then she moved on (glamored a fake death, or simple left, as some versions of the story portray) to meet up with the kids in the woods.

  • hahaha yeah....that witch is a current day ...whats the word...uh oh yeah, SLUT. The whole premise is she stole the step-mothers man....fucked up the step children by asking for that kids "bone"... and going on and on about young boy flesh...the witch clearly just needs to get laid...clearly.

  • Oh My....

  • She most likely got sick, or starved to death. But alos, If you google this story, wikepedia says that theorists believe the stepmother and the witch were meant to be the SAME person! And in most films, they are played by the same actress... It is quite funny how the stepmother passes away right along with the witch.

  • Also they both have an obsession with food-- the stepmom with food in general, and the witch with eating children.

  • That's true that Joan Collins played as the stepmother and the witch but, since she is playing as two different characters here, I wonder why she passed away as the stepmother just because she was killed as the witch by Gretel.

(Also, you might be right that, as the stepmother, she passed away from starving to death but, I thought that if she passed away from starving to death, the father would've also passed away from starvation too since they were going through the same problems).

  • i just wonder how the stepmom died

  • She most likely starved

  • If I was Gretel, I would turn to that witch and say, "You know something? You have way too much free time on your hands, and you are in more dire need of a good lay, than any female in history!"

  • I just thought of something else.. Hansel DOES look thin enough to squeeze through that opening flap on the door.

  • That's what I was thinking. They both could have gotten away together when the witch was inside.

  • dat bitch burned

  • That was beyond creepy!

I love the look on the girl's face when he says "your stepmother is dead"
