its beautiful song and the song was released in three language but in three language three different playing guitar bits in different styles,,,,,,,,,,,that was amazing composed by Raja sir.
srsly...thr has to b a special bunch of idiots who go on clicking dislike button...really...how can one even dislike songs like these....!!! wat an amazing rendition...!!!! hats off to gr8st music composers ever produced...!!!
@sanjayvacharya 'that guitar guy' is also raja.. In his compositions, no one changes anything, no one improvises. its all HIM.. During recording, the usual guitarist struggled to play it and Raja played it and showed it to him..
@MrVeera200 Tamil version was the original... composed by Maestro Ilayaraja. then Laxmikanth-Pyarelal used the tune rightfully in a hindi film.. not the other way round.
Raja's gitar play the magic here....1:00 to 1:20 and again 2:20 -- 2:50...lovely piece.
Not to forget Mohan's effort to make it real gitar play (just compare it with ArvindSwamy's "Ellorum sollum pattu" and "Nalam vazha ennalum" from Marupadiyum movie..just a crap).
The harmonies from 1:00 to 1:20 are so rich. Raja is a genius.The difference between his work and commercial work is that as your musical skills and tastes grow, you appreciate Raja more.
when the song starts as ilaya nila...the chillness starts in my body.....charming song for charming people....the music is extraordinarily set with the melodical voice of spb.....what a beautiful song.....hats off to the team
Neele Neele Ambar Par was either inspired or influenced by this great Ilayaraja composition :) I respect MDs from the North, OP Nayyar, SD Burman, RD Burman, Singing sensations like Kishore, Rafi, Shailendra, and Vijay Benedict and countless others...Music truly has no language or cultural barriers, its universal !
hmm, yes u are right. ialayaraja's compositions are really soul touching. nobody can reach this much. and ilayaraja and spb combination is evergreen one.
it's a shame that ARR got oscar award for a dapakooth song. he is no way near to illayaraja.more over he is a media made musician and doesn't have standards even to stand near illayaraja
@kinu75 yes Illayaraja is the maestro while ARR doesn't come near his standards, but ARR is still talented (though I don't like his post-slumdog songs ): it's like his talented degraded since ) and thus deserves the award. but I have to agree, it's sad that illayaraja never got that award ): though ARR deserved it, illayaraja deserves it more D: well i guess the oscar awards don't do justice in telling who's most deserving the award.
I will give my entire life for the guitar piece starting from 3:50. I started learning guitar in my 5th grade after listening to this song. I still have that guitar I bought for Rs.200.
Don't compare Ilayaraja with Rahman. Raja is a born genius. Raja doesn't know how to market his talents. From 1992 to 2010 for how many films does ARR scored music - altogether in all languages. Take this 18 years from 1976 (the year in which Raja made debut). Raja scored music for more than 400 movies. He is a versatile composer. This period youth doesn't know Raja's earlier movies. They born in the post globalisation era and have the access to uptodate technology. Raja Rajathan.Don't compare.
No comparision for this song... WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW its amaezing... even I am ARR fan I too like Ilayaraja, becoz his music brings back my lovely childhood days......
there is something in these songs, as thses songs were created by using real musical instruments, ie more acoustic instruments, played by real people ,rather than lifeless sampled sounds created by someone else .
an awesome song...truly amazing and mindblowing....ignore the critics IR sir...u rock n YOU only just rock....wish someone really remakes this movie...
I wonder these songs are not at all coming onto the international picture. Oscar is purely based on the american taste. We enjoy lot in this music, Lets our pure ennjoyment be the best price for the musicians. We are glad we have you by your songs Raja
It is only could be composed by a person like Ilayaraja,and only could be sung by a person like SPB and could be enjoyed by all of us.......any way awesome....

This song in Aminor scale and the Classical guitar is played all over the song right from the start to the end.the classical guitar is the Nylon-stringed guitar.the leads played in this song are one of the most difficult to play and are standard guitar lessons
not to forget the Phaser connected electric guitars.
i am not comparing, rather u do that...and i say the same that both are great... if AR got Oscar.. IR got something equivalent or more...why are u bothered to comment...always trying to find something in every statement
Agree. IR's music touches the depths of your soul. Every one of his sngs is an Oscar. And Balu ! Fantastic and effortless and Sweet voice. After Rafi, I enjoy Balu's song the best.
This is a great song.. This song is a tribute to guitars. I had to answerr a freaking youtube captcha to comment this. Anything for Illayaraja. I'm drunk... this fucking rum is not giving me high than this song. Long live Raja.
I can't imagine a life without IR...I wonder what this life would've been if it wasn't for IR...Of the many things I feel grateful for, IR certainly tops the list
excellent music quality. it is a pleasure to hear this. i lost count of how many times I have listened to this in my lifetime. a masterpiece by IR and SPB. thanks for posting this.
this is a very good song but this is not a master piece if u want to hear master piece u should hear johy Karatela. that is tbe best song i have heard and i will hear in my life
Great and True comment about Music Legend!!! Somehow, whenever I hear his songs between 1972-85, my work pressure, Hard mood, tension are spantaneously going out and I become softer than normal... It helps me a lot in my personnel and professional career..No words can fulfill to thank our Mastero.....
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
i agree...illiya raja is the best in the whole wide world...you have to accept that...thank fuck illiya raja didnt win any oscar...it would have humiliated raja sir...well the shiter one have got it...well done to him but plz dont even assume that arr is anywhere close to raja's foot step...long live raga thevan
ahem ! listen kid .. ARR himself said ilayaraja was a source of inspiration for his music .. even ARR was in ilayaraja's troupe when he was a child .. oscar is not jus enough to prove one's talent .. he is still no.1 in millions of people in India .. so i guess you've got to take back your words !
ARR is not even near to illayaraja's compositions as they have soul and touches the hearts, whereas ARR has more of westernised cut and paste kind of music and inpired music from western and arab musicians. Illayaraja's music is eternal and even for 10 more generations the songs will be heard. they r just the best.
@gsrinu9 I accept Raja is a rare diamond but there are so many songs to proves ARR's too is genius. You are comparing entirely two different personalities and music styles not fair :(
@Balatesting very well said, Every musician has their own style, i think we need to respect every musician, there is a trend always which is set by certain people. MSV did that in 60's IR in late 70's and ARR in 90's things will always change, if you dont go with the change you will not stand. ur father might have enjoyed MSV, u might have enjoyed IR your kid will enjoy ARR and etc., this is inevitable.
btw dis song is not the original composition of IR its inspired from Simon & Garfunkel - sound of silence (IR did lot like that) - Enjoy the good Music
Ilayaraja + SP Balasubramiam = the music that brings us smile and joy (and goosebumps sometimes);
Ilayaraja + Jesudas = the music we enjoy from our heart (and tears sometimes);
Long live legends!

Great and True comment about Music Legend!!! Somehow, whenever I hear his songs between 1972-85, my work pressure, Hard mood, tension are spantaneously going out and I become softer than normal... It helps me a lot in my personnel and professional career..No words can fulfill to thank our Mastero.....

ahem ! listen kid .. ARR himself said ilayaraja was a source of inspiration for his music .. even ARR was in ilayaraja's troupe when he was a child .. oscar is not jus enough to prove one's talent .. he is still no.1 in millions of people in India .. so i guess you've got to take back your words !

ilayaraja is a god musician i accept... but a.r.rahman is d best... hes magnificent.. he deserves all d awrds in d world in music.

You've hit the nail on the head. I grew up listening to Ilayaraja & SPB combo and many of their productions are still as fresh as they were then.
Rehman too is a great composer, but his style is different and caters to a different taste. Both are maestros in their own styles.

@Balatesting
btw dis song is not the original composition of IR its inspired from Simon & Garfunkel - sound of silence (IR did lot like that) - Enjoy the good Music

@mymailutube The only similarities between this and Sound of Silence is both are soft melodies..music composition wise it is not even close.
