I will have to say based on some of the comments that it is truly interesting to see all the resentment. My interjection is that while Dallas has 5 Super Bowl wins; however, Philly has 3 NFL titles predating the Super Bowl( and all before Dallas was an active franchise). Just like the Steelers may have 6 Super Bowl titles, The Packers have 13 NFL Championships ( 9 predating the Super Bowl and 4 SB titles). JJ did have the last laugh, and Jerry Jones should have kept him. But Buddy was fabulous for funny quotes, and the players loved him.
Uh, just search on Youtube for "Randall Cunningham" and Buffalo and then tell me again that he couldn't pass. That play in Buffalo was perhaps the most electrifying pass play in NFL history, at least during the regular season. But he wasn't a good pocket passer because he never really got the training from a good NFL coach. Buddy was a defensive genius and would just tell Randall to go out and run around. Then Randall excelled that one year in Minnesota, all the way to the NFC title game.

You're right on all counts. I've just been trying to say that the tragedy of Cunningham was that he was a wonderful raw talent who never got the teaching, and that was Ryan's fault. Philly people only liked Ryan because he was funny, dirty, and inspirational, but they wanted him gone when he couldn't win in the playoffs. And we all know here in Philly that Reid passes far too often, and there have been several petitions to have him fired. He's won a lot of games, but sadly not the big one.
Well maybe you are right, maybe if he had a offensive coach Randell could have been more, who knows? But i will say this, if the eagles ever established the running game i thnk they could be a force, at least a couple of years ago they could have with the defense they had but Reid would rather pass 85% of the time and i really can't figure out why. @kenny7470 Since THE RING is what it's all about, would you then say that Brad Johnson, Doug Williams and Jim McMahon (all Super Bowls winners) are better QB's than Dan Marino or Fran Tarkenton? And how is beating Lombardi in a championship NOT a meaningful game? Just because it wasn't a Super Bowl does not decrease or invalidate its merit. Oh... it's all in good fun. Buddy Ryan was wrong for putting the bounty on him. But we loved him for it. And Buddy never developed Randall's abilities and never won a Super Bowl for us. JJ did have the last laugh, and Jerry Jones should have kept him. But Buddy was fabulous for funny quotes, and the players loved him.

Uh, just search on Youtube for "Randall Cunningham" and Buffalo and then tell me again that he couldn't pass. That play in Buffalo was perhaps the most electrifying pass play in NFL history, at least during the regular season. But he wasn't a good pocket passer because he never really got the training from a good NFL coach. Buddy was a defensive genius and would just tell Randall to go out and run around. Then Randall excelled that one year in Minnesota, all the way to the NFC title game.

You're right. But where we differ, I believe, is that you say he did not have any natural talent as a passer. But he never had a quality quarterback / offense coach while in Philly. It's a sad fact. What you saw was a raw talent - talented, but always raw and not ripened. If you put Cunningham with a well-known offensive guru, the results might have been different. I just can't hold it against Randall. Donovan McNabb, meanwhile, has Andy Reid, who was Favre's QB coach in Green Bay.

What i saw was a guy who could run around and throw the ball far. Thats what i saw, however when it came to throwing it in tight spots or reading defenses he fukin blew which is why i loved him in philly and i also love McChunky in philly, why? Cause i know they will never, EVER win with him either cause his ass gets tight in the postseason. Reid doesnt impress me either, all he wants to do is pass every down and no running game which is why he will NEVER win. You can have them both, forever

You're right on all counts. I've just been trying to say that the tragedy of Cunningham was that he was a wonderful raw talent who never got the teaching, and that was Ryan's fault. Philly people only liked Ryan because he was funny, dirty, and inspirational, but they wanted him gone when he couldn't win in the playoffs. And we all know here in Philly that Reid passes far too often, and there have been several petitions to have him fired. He's won a lot of games, but sadly not the big one.

Well maybe you are right, maybe if he had a offensive coach Randell could have been more, who knows? But i will say this, if the eagles ever established the running game i thnk they could be a force, at least a couple of years ago they could have with the defense they had but Reid would rather pass 85% of the time and i really can't figure out why. Just glad he keeps doing it

So as of right now, cowboys fans could be bragging about how they currently have a better team... but instead of making comments on any relevance to current football, many cowboys fans like to make "easy" comments about the past showing no current knowledge of the game
