@ReligiousZombie You don't have to 'sell' property management services any more than you would have to sell water in the desert. With former tenants like these, it is painfully easy to see the need for professional representation.
I feel your pain. I just had a tenant move out of my house that I rent out two weeks ago. i tour the US full time as a director for a touring choir and was never there to check in on things. The tenant made our place look very messy and ran off with about $4000 in appliances from the house. Yes, criminal charges have been filed.
Sorry for your loss, Shail. I never cease to be amazed at the depths some people will sink to if they think nobody is watching. I hope the police arrest the people who damaged your home and stole your appliances. Be sure to touch base with the neighbors around your home and give them your contact info so they can tell you if something seems fishy. Good luck!
what kind of people lived here? I'v'e rented my share of places, and I alway's tried to leave the place in, if not same condition, then better condition than when I moved in
Supposedly 'average' folks lived here but the damage was anything but average. It is 100% better now and rented to a great family. The moral to this story is as President Reagan was fond of saying; 'trust but verify' It is amazing how few people feel a sense of duty to leave a place better than they found it. Thank you for being a good person and treating your rental home with respect!
Fear sells.
