I'm the guy on the mound when this happened. Nobody was seriously injured, I think the pilot might have broken his leg. They ran out of gas 2 miles from the landing strip. It was chaos for about 1 minute, but emergency responders were close by. Craziness.

That was the only open spot around unless you consider landing amongst a neighborhood of houses of houses (anyone have a big driveway?). Besides, he picked a clear route through the practice field. I doubt he would have landed it in the middle of the soccer field; which he didn't do. For a reason. Because it was a kids soccer game.

There are lot of things to happen in our life, when we hardly feel those as a tragedy or comedy. At first I enjoyed it, but than I realize that it is an accident. I think the pilot had no option but emergency landing. It seems the pilot was able to come out and sent back to the hospital.Thanks god..... No serious casualty. I think the game will start as soon as possible and we can enjoy the game. And wishing such mishap will happen to nobody.

@SeethingGreen Not really. 1st the pilot forgot to even check if his fuel was full before he took off. Eventually his right wing fuel tank ran out of fuel. Coincidentally there was still 30 gallons of fuel in his left wing fuel tank, but since he regularly made the flight on just the right wing fuel he never thought to switch to the left wing fuel tank when the plane started going down. If the pilot had done his job the whole accident could have been avoided.

I actually knew a couple of people on the plane. There was something wrong with the fuel gauge, and they didn't have as much fuel as they thought. So they had to make an emergency landing. They were all coming back from a fishing trip in Alaska.
