I have been waiting my whole life to see this beautiful human being play live, and i never thought the day would come... but my favorite saying that "good things happen to good people" has proven itself true once again. In two weeks time, i am taking my dear Mother, my beautiful Wife and my eldest Brother to see Yusuf play music live in Perth W.A... and we are PUMPED!!! This man has brought warmth to a very cold world for many years!
I found hope in this song. As Cat Stevens, he's really a music legend but as Yusuf Islam, his version of the different songs becomes more amazing and serene. I like him more as Yusuf because he projects a deeper person who exalts God every time he performs.
He makes me just want to jump off the corporate, capatilist rat race which I stress through Mondays to Fridays... and just go live in the forrests with the birds!
Also, if you look at him during his Earth Tour, it's obvious that he's tired and frustrated, and is just looking for SOMETHING. Something to believe in. Since he has embraced Islam, and been given a chance to live life on his own terms, it's clear that he's much more relaxed. So, who cares what his beliefs are? We should all be thankful that he's back and willing to give us more great music.
I think Cat Steven's brilliance is that his songs easily transcend the limitations in our religions, beliefs and cultures. They cut to the heart of the matter to where everyone can instantly relate.
If ever there was a person who was meant to pick up a guitar and write songs to sing it's him. He's perfect and a genius. This is apparent by the fact that he's still every bit as good as he ever was.

Yusuf Islam is a person, who know what love is. Listen to his music, it speaks about people who connect other people, no matter which religion you believe in.

I have been waiting my whole life to see this beautiful human being play live, and i never thought the day would come... but my favorite saying that "good things happen to good people" has proven itself true once again. In two weeks time, i am taking my dear Mother, my beautiful Wife and my eldest Brother to see Yusuf play music live in Perth W.A... and we are PUMPED!!! I found hope in this song. As Cat Stevens, he's really a music legend but as Yusuf Islam, his version of the different songs becomes more amazing and serene. I like him more as Yusuf because he projects a deeper person who exalts God every time he performs.

Also, if you look at him during his Earth Tour, it's obvious that he's tired and frustrated, and is just looking for SOMETHING. Something to believe in. Since he has embraced Islam, and been given a chance to live life on his own terms, it's clear that he's much more relaxed. So, who cares what his beliefs are? We should all be thankful that he's back and willing to give us more great music.

I think Cat Steven's brilliance is that his songs easily transcend the limitations in our religions, beliefs and cultures. They cut to the heart of the matter to where everyone can instantly relate.
If ever there was a person who was meant to pick up a guitar and write songs to sing it's him. He's perfect and a genius. This is apparent by the fact that he's still every bit as good as he ever was.

Yusuf Islam is a person, who know what love is. Listen to his music, it speaks about people who connect other people, no matter which religion you believe in.
He choses his religion and it helps him to find peace!

sorry but nothing divides people more than religon, always has and probably always will. Some can also debate about how peaceful he is, if you beleive some of what is reported. i choose to give him the benefit of the doubt. but no way can argue the merits of religon because there are none.

If i were him i'd probably be quite bored with the constant questioning over faith. To me he's a great songwriter and everything else is largely irrelevant because i don't know him personally. Mind you he does come across as a calm thoughtful man and i imagine he would a nice guy to know.

Just look at native people from all over the world - they didn't sing songs 40,000 years ago to make money - it was part of who they were. You can't extract the person from the song. But I get what you're sayin. But it's a bit like askin people who watch madonna video not to talk about her boobs, or asking people watching Culture club not to ask is he a girl?

The music is superlative.
When I watch interviews with Yusuf though, I always get the feeling that he is a really nice bloke.
To me, Islam has given him an inner peace and stability. We all need to find that something that gives us the same peace and stability be it through spirituality or charitable works or a thousand different things.
