That IS an Upstate NY accent, especially if you're from Syracuse, Rochester or Buffalo. People don't usually sound like that east of Utica.

Hahahaha... wow. I've lived in upstate New York my entire life, and I can't say I've EVER heard anyone that sounds like that. Your mom must be one heck of a gem!
