OK, agreed its a remake of keeridam, which also i had watched on youtube.but as per my opinion gardish is all time best as direction, acting fight choreography.the last seen is incredible by jackie shroff.really a wonderful actor.but never got sufficient fame.how he expressed himself to amrish puri.& he salute jackie which is a best reply ever.the film powerfully shows degradation of a innocent man .
Todays hero can never this kind of RAW acting. This is what u call ACTING at its finest Jackie's dialogue delivery as he was talking to his father showing how helpless he was! Its so moving & this fight scene was incredible its as realistic as a fight can be! Raw and hard hitting ! Not the fancy fairy tale special effect crap u see now! This is the real deal!
@prasunBHaTT i think cops were having a tea break... and it's not just 90's i mean still now in movies, hero fights the bad guy, and when the fight is over, cops comes to arrest the bad guy or hero. Cops are too lazy to move their ass...
he deserved an oscar or iifa best actor award for this movie, newayz, can sm1 upload Angaar again? I know it got pulled for copywriting, but damn it was worth it, I love that movie, all 3, nana patekar, kader khan, and of course jackie shroff were awesome in the movie! I'm gonna start downloading shit off youtube cuz it gets pulled off when u least expect it for some bullshit ass reason!
i live in pakistan and i love bollywood films in the bottom of my heart and specially i was sad when i heard amrish puri died really he was a good man a part frm acting..may Allah rip amrish puri soul (amen)...jai hind and Pakistan zindabad, pakistan and india is one blood...take care
this movie has two endings, The one I saw first was the movie ends when amrish puri salute jackie, and in this one there is one more scene added where amrish said to his superior that he is not capable of being police officer. I like this ending better.
Few words about the generic theme of this movie of Priyadarshan which strikes to the mind are that the biggest curse and scourge of this cruel world is weakness and helplessness. As the influential German philosopher of nineteenth century F.W. Nietzsche mentioned in his works that the biggest reality of the humankind according to the unfolding events of the history is its ability to assert The will of Power and only those nations can survive who can adopt this ideology wholeheartedly.
The performance of a lifetime delivered by (The highly talented but contrastingly speaking under-rated as well) Jackie Sheroff. One has to intrigue that why not other directors of Indian commercial cinema have tapped the enormous acting talent of Jackie after his monumental performance in this very good movie. Hats off to Jagu dada once again and I wish he might get same good characters of this scale in near future.
You can say that again. Bollywood has always been about commercial masala flicks and it saddens me that even today, brilliant movies like A Wednesday, Aamir, Baabbaar, and etc are overshadowed by crap like Blue, Om Shanti Om, and such. Jackie was just brilliant in this movie, as he was in Parinda and Angaar. One of the most under-rated actor in Bollywood who was never given the chance for his full capabilities.
i thought the film was awesome when it came out. unlike my friends who didn't think so. one of the better films to come out of 1993.
i liked the songs too.
i identified with this film so much, as i was going through a similar thing jackie was going through. family misunderstanding, emotions, being a failure etc. i thought this character was actually me.
those teenage problems, not being wanted or loved, and grossly misunderstood.
Jackie was one of the best actors of 80's and 90's. A true natural actor! yet he didn't do justice with his career. He is barely remembered these days unlike his peers like Anil, Sunny, Sanjay
i think both Mohanlal and Jackie Shroff did a wonderful job. They both did the role in their own style. I saw both of the Movies...Kireedam & Gardish...I think Jackie did justice to the original role Mohanlal did. I dont even know why people have to compare people like this. Everyone have their own style. There is no reason to compare...
i like jackie very much...i just dont feel anything watchin his cryin...i dont know why...i watched Lalettan in Kireedam...his cryin looks like he is really cryin....but no offense jackie shroff is a great actor...sorry if i offend anyone...
I have seen Kireedam. I must say though, Gardish is much better. This movie is a true classic, a masterpiece in every way possible. Jackie plays the role to perfection, and Amrish Puri excels in every scene as well. This movie is not just good, it's probably the greatest action drama ever made in Bollywood, Period.
the greatest trajedy story ever made in indian film industry... but this story was originally made by a malayam writer named lohidas fimed by the master director sibi malayil and acted by king of actors MOHANLAL. iT is the remake of all time gratest malayalam movie Kireedom.
And please dont compare Jaggu dada with mohanlal. Agree that Jackie is a very very good actor but he have nt done it to its perfection as mohanlal has done. The way mohanlal acts, his mannerisms and dialogue delivery ! No one can match his to perfection !
I'm not comparing them two, because each has their own line of fans so this argument will just be repeated back and forth. Being a Shroff fan, I say Jaggu Dada did a better job, and you are entitled to your opinion. I have seen both the movies and I feel Gardish was much better, and you can feel otherwise, and I won't object in any way. If Mohanlal is so great, how come he isn't nearly as recognized outside South India? He is great no doubt, but lets leave it there.
Answering your quesn.. bcoz Mohanlal has not done many movies in hindi... as a malayali he concentrates more on malayalam... but tats the not the case for hindi movies... hindi movie are seen all over india... but malayaam is not... tats the difference....
Mohanlal ha won 4 national awrds.. (3 for acting) but jaggu got none... was jus mentioning tat... and its Fyn with your opinion. Your rite... you may feel the hindi one is betta.. and i would feel tat the malayalam one is betta... no use on arguing it... its the deference in our culture... :)
I never went on to compare the two, but you felt you had to show why Mohanlal's talent exceeds Shroff's. Be my guest and look up more stats for your own satisfaction, if it helps you get a good night rest. I prefer to go by what's presented in front of me and make my decision based on that. Mohanlal has won many awards but he just didn't have what it takes to make it in Bollywood. Face it, competition in South Indian films is not nearly as tough as Bollywood. Shroff's native language is Gujarati
C'mon man. B'wood is neva a big deal. Wat do u actally mean ? Do u think b'wood is the ultimate aim of every indian actor ?? Its not tat he couldn't make it b'wood.. He jus did;t want 2 go there. He is more intrested in malayalam movies.. He get more satisfaction in satisfying his malluwood fans than going 2 b'wood. In fact even I dont want him 2 go 2 b'wood. I want to see his nice malayalam movies only. Mallu is jus more important for him. mayb jaggu luvs b'wood more even though he is gujarati.
Jackie was one of the best actors of 80's and 90's. A true natural actor! yet he didn't do justice with his career. He is barely remembered these days unlike his peers like Anil, Sunny, Sanjay
nujra why are u watching this scene then and commenting and wasting ur time if u dont like it jackie shroff haan mohan lal agar hindi bolega tu dekh lenge ke woh kitni achi bolta hai
Well eventhough Mohanlal does not know Hindi his voice was never dubbed whenever he did Hindi Movies. So u have to respect him for doing that and trying. I saw a Malayalam movie with Jackie Shroff...he spoke malayalam too..I would say he had an accent too...when u speak a language u dont know...u should have an accent...so i respect both of them for tryin to speak diff languages
my eyes fill with tears. one question for everyone- how can simple man live in this world. everyone in this world is trying to earn money but not trying to earn honesty and respect. please all readers do something
This is what u call ACTING at its finest Jackie's dialogue delivery as he was talking to his father showing how helpless he was!
