The only thing that made the Faith Hill Tim McGraw duet work a few years back was the very real passion as a young married couple. These guys are not and I would not expect to see them do something torrid for the sake of selling a song. It works fine as a metaphor, let the words and their voices tell the story. If you watch the "'making of" video of the music video, it makes a lot more sense... They are both married and they didn't want the video to have too much romance and that's why brad is like using his guitar to block himself from Carrie. The video is definitely lacking because everyone was so worried about it appearing like Carrie and brad were really in love. They have an obviously totally Friendly relationshipIt's called acting!! I absolutely love the song though.
