The Mercedes is ugly and hasn't been 'best-in-class' for a long time. The BMW 5-Series was sporty but then it decided to gain more weight and sacrifice steering feel. The A6 is gorgeous, has the best interior, and according to all its reviews it drives and performs amazingly.

hmm i guess the Audi doesn't move and is more stable because of the quattro or the front wheel drive because for sure i've gone on all of those cars my fav is the BMW though you feel better in the BMW, you can feel the BMW's v6 better and it is also feel more powerful and you feel thrown back when accelerating anyways Audi is still great car but it doesn't have that good of a dynamic such as Benz or BMW.

for me: more stable= less fun

not to hate on Audi here but in all the shots of the Audi and all the shots of the BMW running through the shalom, the BMW had hardly any body roll but the Audi was pretty significant... and the Merc slightly more than the Audi. It might be true that with the quattro vs a RWD BMW that it would actually be more agile but it didn't look like it. They should compare a BMW with xDrive with the Audi.

Please people, enough on non sense. Audi is clearly not at Mercedes-Benz level. Mercedes is in its own superior class by itself. If you think differently, then you should grow up a little more and then I promise you that you will come to understand this. I love you all audi fans. But we have to be real up in here. Peace!!!

@SweetPlanetEarth I have owned three different Mercedes-Benz and have owned two Audi's and will never go back to Benz. Problem riddled Benz and have had no issues with the Audi's. Audi has surpassed Benz for sure, especially how Benz is coping the LED DRL idea from Audi. I guess its better to lead than follow as Audi says...

We don't even have to mention how Benz has been Audi's play toy in DTM racing for the past couple of years.

I live in Germany and I read a car magazin called ADAC Motorsport in which they showed the statistics of how many times every individual car model broke down and in almost category (5/6) BMW won. So what that one guy said about 'stability' is completely nonsense. I don't dislike Audi but I those LED lights, I just don't like them compared to the Circles around the xenon lights in the BMW. And about the merc it has gotten all out of date! And looks ugly. A downside to the BMW is that it ways a

Haha that's why i don't mention the E class Mercedes:) because i don't know anything about it, but i've driven 5 series beamer alot of times:) and i just don't like the car:) so is it better than A6? Not in My opinion, but if someone says that it's an amazing car... I would'nt hesitate to agree with them. But not even close to the A6 ( MY HONEST opinion, not a fanboys;)..)

@Scudeyyy you dont buy this class of cars to be sporty. you will never need that one second a lap faster time in real life. you need safeness and stability on the road and you need 4wd for that. ive driven bmw 525d and audi a6. i prefer a6. its more stable on the road and much more comfort. and its nicer inside. it even looks better on the outside.

@dcukic Ok and the BMW and Mercedes are dangerously unstable... not. For most driving dynamics isnt important but the 5 series puts the biggest smile on my face when driving so whats not to like. The A6 may be a very capable car but I couldnt give a hoot about it's "stablility". The 535i (in Sport+) (which i have now ordered) has much more control through response and feel and has been proven as being the safest car by far by Euro NCAP in its class.It doesnt understeer either unlike the audi. :)

Actually most reviews are saying that the new 5-Series is too soft and doesn't have the typical handling characteristics of a BMW. Watch some reviews. They say only good things about the Audi, even with the handling portion of the review.

Also the E-Class is an ugly turd...

@FIDTRO Yes the new 5 is "softer" than the old one in basic spec. I have seen the reviews and the general consensus is that with active dampers it becomes the drivers car it should be. Thats why i specs adaptive dampers and active steering. But i can also report it is 10x more comfy than the old one and a better compromise. The a6 isnt as good but a close second. Tbh tho both cars are so good you can barely choose between them A6 for 4 wd and 5 series for drivers. E class is just for softies.

A6 is not a young mans car, but that doesn't matter anyway. What matters is which is better and the Benz is hands down a better car. Why do you think Taxi drivers prefer Mercedes to Audi? Because Taxi drivers use their car a lot and they don't want to be in a crappy car that breaks down all the time. Why do you think poor countries like Albania are full of Mercedes cars and not Audi? It's because poor people need reliable cars that don't break down all the time. I could go on an on...

@Gouryello ever heard of top gear? its one of best car programs in the world. they run survey on their web site and it shows that people are really unhappy with reliability of their mercs. car brake down too much. old mercs, audis and especially vw-s were indestructable cars but new mercs suck. they live on an old glory, audi pwns them but people refuse to acknowledge it

@dcukic - Look at JD Power survey 2010. Merc is #3 of reliablity and Audi is below average along with BMW. Not only is Mercedes a more reliable than Audi, but they are also nicer to driver. Front wheel drive sux and it's a known fact that front wheel drive cars never last as long as reliable rear wheel drive cars. My cousin has a brand new Audi A4, the damn thing can't turn corners up hills. His cheap van can though and my Mercedes does it with ease. Two thumbs down for Audi.

@Gouryello my neighbor works as a chief of carpark in one company that owns over 300 cars. many of wich are mercedesand audis. every car they buy he birngs home and takes me for a raide.near my town there are some pretty nasty roads and NO mercedes autperformed any audi(they buy only qattro). each of those cars do 900k(in a 3-5 yrs time) before they are sold. none of audis had any problem but mercs are 1month in a service one in use.

@dcukic - Look at the JD Power Survey 2010. Audi is not even close to Mercedes-Benz build quality and all Audi's drive like shit. You can't compare 4 wheel drive to rear wheel drive. 4 wheels have more grip and also use more fuel. I live in a city, not a jungle, so I will take a reliable rear wheel drive Mercedes over any fragile front/four wheel drive Audi. Every time I get in my Benz it starts. BMW also drives much better than Audi, but just like Audi they have reliablity problems. Benz #1!

@Gouryello What the hell? Drivetrain has NOTHING to do with the reliability of a car. Are you stupid? Honda's and Toyota's are the most reliable cars and their architecture is front wheel drive. Most people who buy Mercedes buy models equipped with 4MATIC which is the all-wheel-drive system just like people who buy Audi's get models equipped with quattro. BMW is even planning to make the new M5, a REAR WHEEL DRIVE CAR come with all-wheel-drive as an option..as Audi has always done

@Gouryello - if the AWD car weighs less than the RWD - the fuel mileage is very competitive... See the A8 vs. 7 series and A6 vs. 5 Series... or TT vs some of it's competitors. If the cars weigh the same then yes the RWD will have slightly better mileage... and of course if the RWD is lighter it will be better. That's why Audi has spent a lot of money using materials that make their cars lighter (aside from wanting them to handle better).
