  • Joe Jackson = One of a scant few musicians who makes you sit up, take notice and give respect rather than cringe when they strap on a Keytar. You can include his Recorder playing too! Thanks for posting this CongaGenius!

  • Bit polished

  • EXTRAORINARY!

...especially the arrangement of the ending!!!

It's a pity it cuts off because it a great piece of footage of a great band.

  • joe J is the best new wave band ...

  • "what,s a few broken bones when u know that it,s it,s good clean fun" ;-)

  • I also saw Joe on this tour and he was awesome! I was so very fortunate to find him at a tiny venue in Winnipeg, Canada with maybe 400 seats. I walked right up to the stage and drank in his genius....

Sure wish he'd come visit me in Japan!

  • Most Excellent!!!

  • you still can, he still performs ;}

  • As always with Joe, great band.

I'll never forget the college roommate I had in '80 who used to preach and play Joe Jackson to us and we were too ignorant to get it. Same with the B-52s.

Well. You get older and you learn what's good good.

  • The solo section is mainly based on a E chord for me + distorsion

  • Does anyone know the chord progression during the solo in the middle? I can't make all the chords out.

  • Favorite song ever!!!!!! You are the man for putting this up!

  • "I had a giant rubber shark and it really made a mark...."

    Great line

  • THANK YOU for your post ... really genius !

  • I was in the navy at sea in 1979 on a med cruise going to the ships store out of boredom, and a good SK had the foresight and brilliance to order a copy of "Beatcrazy" which I purchased with the attitude the I must reach out musically, to broaden my horizons, and son of a bitch, if I didn't!

I would like to meet this man.

  • he's the man all right....fer sure

  • Amazing version of "I'm the Man"!!! and at the end the first notes of "A slow song"! too sad it doesn't go on :o(

    JJ is great

    Love from France

  • The sycapation at the end is really cats ass.

  • Lighting is real sucky but Joe Jackson rules.

  • Simply , Gods band on earth playing his theme song ! haha

  • Joe Jackson IS the man!

  • Is that Jane Wiedlin playing guitar? Looks like her way of playing but I can't imagine why she'd be in the band.

  • I dont think so this was 1979 her n the gogos were here in 87

  • But I thought the Go-Go's were around in the late 70's. I know for sure they were in the early 80's, I remember the videos on MTV.

  • Cyg,you could be right im going to do some detective work, stay tuned......

  • the Go-go's first album came out in 1982.

  • Right but that doesn't mean Jane Weidlin wasn't working before that as an unknown in music. We're established it's not her already though.

  • She wasn't a working musician before that.. she probably couldn't play guitar at all prior to the go go's. they were all just babies when they signed and hit with their first album. She definitely wasn't playing for other people prior to the go go's.

  • Like I said, we established that it isn't her. Barring that knowledge, however, it is plausible that someone could be touring with a known musician as a backup, only a measley three years prior to being in a band herself. No need to belabor the point, I'm aware it isn't Jane Weidlin.

  • Well piss off then!

  • That was uncalled for. Don't post unless you have something intelligent to add.

  • sense of humor... sense of humor... I am a comedy writer and video/film producer...Notice I didn't say "fuck off" THAT would have been crude and uncalled for... but "piss off" is funny!

this first lesson on the psychology of comedy is free to you today. By the way, why are you sitting inside in your undies looking at youtube on such a fine Saturday?

  • No, that's not sense of humor, it's being rude unnecessarily. For your information, I'm an MBA student and I'm working on an important project this weekend which is why I'm inside. Maybe when you quit your job at McDonald's you'll come to appreciate something like that. Bye now, junior.

  • I have already quit my job, junior.. That why I AM sitting in my undies inside on this fine Saturday, readng your delightful, witty repartee. I am counting the days until my unemployment check arrives so I can buy some more rolling papers, and Scooter Pies. Until then, the cigs get wrapped in back issues of Monster Trucks 'N Nekkid Wimmin' magazine pages.

  • It's the multi-talented Mindy Jostyn, who played on JJ's 1991 tour in support of his album, "Laughter and Lust". Sadly, Mindy passed away in 2005.

  • Thanks for the info, hadn't heard of her before now. She looked and played guitar a bit like Jane Wiedlin so that's why I thought it might have been her.

  • maby's bass kicks it to another level on this 1. 1 of my fave bassists

  • Brings me back to His gig in the Olympic Ballroom, off Camden Street in Dublin in Decmber, 1979. Happy days! Many thanks.

  • Probably the greatest bassist of the new wave era from this band.

  • Yes along with Bruce Thomas of the attractions.

  • All ride along...part of the New Wave! Great Song! Sure takes me back!!

  • OMG great to see this. Takes me back. Saw JJ in YVR 1979 live playing this song!! Totally rocking!!!

  • YES YES YES !

  • kick ass wicked....

  • SLAM DANCE!!!!!

  • Thanks for the video! Did you all know that Squeeze, from the same genre and era, is going to be touring North America in the Summer of 2007?

  • Joe and Graham Maby's bass defined the late '70s for my generation.I just turned 50 today but hell....I still have JJ ! Joe is The Man

  • oh MY god! Slow it down! LOL....that's how I get, too! Go, go, go, GO!!! Get down on IT! I almost 4got how much I luv Joe!!! ~Renee~

  • Lest their be any doubt Joe Jackson is indeed - THE MAN. Joe, Graham and Dave will be touring behind a new CD in 2008. Be sure and catch them. A brilliant, rousing, party of a time!

  • I got turned on to JJ in the late 70's. Saw him at red rocks in colorado in the early 80's with paul young. what a great show. outside at the base of the rockies. I have been a junkie for him ever since. I saw he was touring in Europe, has anyone here seen a show yet. Go Joe!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Joes great, check out the under rated album beat crazy.

  • Great song, great performance!! Thx for showing this!

  • Nice clip from 16 years ago, when I was just really starting to get into Joe. Wish the sound wasn't so tinny, but a nice video shots of the guys jamming to one of my favorite songs.

  • Laughter and Lust tour?

That was my first JJ concert, in Berkeley, CA.

I was in a real funk today, and this snapped me out of it instantly. And I do mean instantly. How does he do that?
