Anyway, forget history. Conditions in the United States resemble those of Weimar Germany in numerous ways. Give it a few more years. Also, for certain segments of America's population, authoritariansim is already here. Arizona anyone?

He also criticised the growing bureaucracy in the party. The party didn't like that one bit. So, he was exiled. History could have been very different if the party was more like Trotsky and Lenin.

Krondstadt and Tambov under the leadership of Trotsky and Marshall Tuhachevsky for starters. There is much documentation and even actual orders signed by Lenin in the Moscow archives that support this. Ex KGB Colonel Dimitri Volkagonov did a fantastic biography and history of Lenin based on these documents which he had access to in the mid 1990s. He gives much evidence to the deranged and tyrranical abuse of power by Lenin. The man was a sadistic NUTCASE on par with Hitler

Alexander III even pardoned one man who was part of the group that assasinated his father, Alexander II the liberator of the serfs. No conspiracy here. The man wasnt directly responsible but simply one of the people plotting the situation. Alexander III was a devout Christian and functioned on Christian priniciples and ideas. Something hard to understand in today's cynical, pragmatic world. There was far more benevolence and forgiveness from the Tsars than from the atheists that followed. Nicholas II was told that he would have to agree to kill 10,000 in order to quiet the revolution and he did not agree to it. Lenin did.

Because he was sent to Siberia as a political prisoner by the czar. He needed an alias to hide his name. Thus he changed it to Trotsky, just like Ulyanov changed his name to Lenin, and Jughashvili changed his name to Stalin. Taking an alias was not uncommon then.

As the case of North Korea proves, you can stabilize a country over decades using Stalinist principles - but no Stalinist movement has succeeded in turning a country into a socialist one in the last decades. The people are simply not inspired by Stalinism. On the other hand, look at the socialist experiment of Venezuela. The president declared himself to be a Trotzkyist. And the 2006 CIA-supported coup of military units failed only because the general public rose up in support for Chavez.

I'm sure he would have loved to hear about that around 1848-50, when he was dodging his landlord whilst scrambling for the signs that the European Revolution would be revived. Glenn Beck is evil.

Communism, like any economic theory, can be examined and reviewed without being implemented you moron. As their fellow economists pointed out to them, Marx and Engels theories were based on faulty reasoning and the utter failure of socialist countries like the USSR proved their point. Communists are more delusional then Nazis.

@UserUK201 oh, I see. So which economists successfully rebuffed Marx in his lifetime? I'm gonna be lenient here and assume you're actually talking about communism, and not the state-directed capitalism that was actually implemented in the USSR. I'm also gonna assume that you've read at least significant portions of Capital or the Grundrisse, before resorting to the 'rebuffs' you claim occurred in their own lifetimes. This is all very generous, and I have my suspicions, but I believe in fairness.

I read Marx and Engels books as part of a course in economics, and even I could see the fault within their logic. The entire theory is based on a faulty understanding of the Labor Theory of Value which has been rebuked by economists. When this was pointed out to Marx by his fellow economists, he retorted with cheap ad hominem attacks. And what is this state directed capitalism nonsense? Capitalism can not, by definition, be state directed you idiot.

@UserUK201 what's with your extreme reluctance to actually name names? You could have easily proffered some examples of economists who rebuffed Marx in his own lifetime, for whom his only recourse was ad hominem. The labor theory of value is problematic, and even Ricardo admitted some problems with it, but that doesn't mean that "communism was disproved as a viable system in Marx's own lifetime," not by a long shot.

@UserUK201 by the way, if you think state capitalism is a neologism, you're a bigger poseur than I thought. How could you have gone through an economics class where you learned all the niceties of Marxian economics, and not stumble across the phrase "state capitalism" or some variant at least once? How could you have missed all the articles in international relations journals and mainstream media, talking about the Chinese shift to state capitalism? It's because you're a fake.

Because you fail to grasp basic economic terms, as you did with military terms I have to assume you know as much about economics as you do about warfare. Corporatism is just another form of government intervention which makes it diametrically opposed to true free market capitalism and along the lines of socialism.
