Oh, so this actually gives you the advantage of the balanced inputs, nice! I didn't know that the DXA-2S has balanced inputs. So even if your camcorder has a simple mini jack mic input, you can still ad balanced inputs to your camera and run long mic cables. Wow! That's a great value for this unit.
Just bought a used Beachtek (DXA-4P). When i have it connected to the camcorder(canon vixia hf20) all i hear is a over powering Buzzing Noise. What is causing this and how do i stop this problem? If nothing can be done I'm going to to return. appreciate the help
@twinJosh8922 Just tested this out again. The problem, without a doubt, lies in Canon's audio circuitry on this model of camera. If you have the Mic Level settings on Auto, there is an obnoxious buzzing and clicking noise with an external mic. Not so awesome, but if you switch over to manual control, it disappears completely.
******oh wopps im sorry i meant im buying the NTG-2, whats the advantages in buying the beachtek over just buying the little adapter plugs to plug XLR into my 3.5m mic jack?
well if its something like a condenser mic, it needs to have phantom power. and you cant just get a xlr to 3.5mm plug because the camera doesnt have phantom power capabilities, unless its one of those professional cameras...but these things seem a bit over priced
i have a canon hv30 and i want to buy a rode Ntg 1. Do i have to buy the beacktek to connect it to my camcorder or can i just buy a little adapter plug? whats the advantages in buying the beacktek? thanks!!
You would want the NTG-2 which has the ability to be self powered with an "AA" battery. The NTG-1 would require 48V Phantom Power and one of the more expensive BeachTek boxes with the ability to add power. Give us a ring, we can create a package deal for you for both the BeachTek and the NTG-2. 1-877-353-8077
Does this device allow the camera to fully use the two XL inputs (two mics at once) like gain the audio from a on-camera shotgun mic and another mic on a boompole at the same time???
Thanks for this! just one complaint. the most important information was at the very end, showing the control panel of the device and what exactly the controls do. For examle G1 G2, Mic/Line and getting a feed from the house system... you RACED thru it in 5 seconds and even covered up part of the panel with your hand.
Do i need a 9V Battery for the DXA-2T?

@twinJosh8922 I'm using a DXA-2T (passive) with a self-powered condenser mic and a Canon HFS200--noticed the same problem.

how much do thes ethings cost?
thegrantlersvids 3 years ago
anywhere from $130 to $500, the basic beachteks cost about $170, juicedlink, signvideo, and studio 1 all make different models.

Would it be better to use a mixing board instead considering you can adjust the bass, treble, and mid before it goes into the camera?

Yes, the BeachTek allows you to use two mics at the same time and each has their own independent attenuation control.

Thank you, nice device!! do you do equipment test upon request or assigned, i have a couple of request..

Usually I just test all kinds of gear and choose whichever is coolest. I'm totally open to requests!

If I plug the BeachTek into the HV20, will it power my ME-66?
tobuscus 4 years ago
The DXA2S is a passive device - no power. You'll need to put an "AA" battery into your mic for power or get the BeachTek DXA6 or DXA6P.
dvestore 4 years ago
is that good?
tobuscus 4 years ago
You'll want the BeachTek DXA-2S. Check 'em out at the dvestore
