This level's a bit of a weird one for that really. It's a perfectly fine level, but it's the spinning block bit with the rising water level that makes it a bit of a pain in the arse.

Im sure half the creatures who you free at the end of the zone ended up falling into the chemicals.

You know, I never thought of that, but you're right. Pretty much all the creatures you rescue throughout the level are just going to hop along into certain death.
Sonic really didn't think rescue mission through, it seems.
