I fly an average of twice a week and I for one applaud Southwest Airlines for putting their foot down.

I have had the misfortune to be seated next to a number of people who don't fit in their seats due to a lifestyle choice that results in obesity. Key words being LIFESTYLE CHOICE.

It is a huge pain in the ass when they are taking a 1/4 of my seat on a 5 hour flight.

I paid for the whole seat, so go on a diet or stow with the luggage.

Yes, he knows to book 2 seats, and it's true that Southwest does not have a first class section, but what is Kevin, with all of his money, doing on a commercial/pedestrian flight in the first place? Most of his flights are reimbursed by the big studios anyway, so it's not really his own money. Kevin was an indie filmmaker, but he now works for the very system he was trying to work outside of. All of his "success" means nothing if he doesn't put his health as his first priority.

airline coach class seats, as most movie theater seats, are small and cramped for most people. just because someone who is overweight can squeeze into a seat and lower the armrests does not mean they aren't invading the personal space of the person/s on either side of them - either also using the armrest intended for them or their body being too close or touching them constantly. really, if KS spent as much time working on his weight problem as he does excusing it, he'd have no weight problem

The Airlines however have the ability to go beyond what is socially acceptable and we have to take it, because if you defend yourself they can and will arrest you. So if the airline screws up, and blames you for it, you can't complain. If you do complain, no matter how justified you are, the airlines still win.
