You guys are all morons...He didnt need to hit driver off the tee?? He was LUCKY that he didnt find the burry burn on his drive. After that drive you think he would learn and say you know what better play this safe but instead hits an even DUMBER shot and it LUCKILY finds rough and not the burn again. He deserved to loose for not laying up on either of his first two shots.

..i do like his attidude about it though. But to say he was "unlucky" is ridiculous.

Seems that you, guys, are intelligent. Even the 18th was positive hole to van de velde, like he said. There is not many people who can do an sand save after a totally disaster. And, if we are realistic, Van de Velde had unlucky bounce from the grandstand (his 2nd shot), it bounced to impossible place to play. If 2nd shot would have gone OB, he propably won the Open. My favourite golfer. VAN DE VELDE , you will have another chance, I know it!
