I just think that given that the vast majority of Middle Easterners are not hostile, we should use deterents that dont bring mayem to the region. whenever a western power causes massive casualties in arab lands we always cause a rise in extremism in the region. That could be achieved if it really was a US goal (as claimed) to provide the means to keep strict order in iraq by supplying basic police/military training and weapons. That would allow for a little sovereignty in iraq, and thats important. The US presence there is unbearable, from a political point of view.
