  • One of the many reasons that Axl is the greatest front-man ever. Notice how the tempo speeds up from 60 beats per second to 180, and he don't miss a beat.

  • this song would be really good if Slash was the lead guitarist

  • fucking beautiful song

  • Fuckin' love this song!! It is amazing, one of my favourites!

Why Guns N' Roses didn't include in Use Your Illusion? ;(

  • This is a cover song...the original was by a band associated with Arkeen

called Asphalt Ballet...Axl did backing vocals on their version but wasn't credited. He later recorded it

  • @teambildo No it's not. This is the original. The version by Asphalt Ballet is a cover. It's a part of the Rumbo Tapes and this song was recorded in (it's also likely that it was recorded before) 1986.

  • @Vorail This is the original demo, but the song itself is written by Asphalt Ballet. They asked Axl to come up with the vocals that´s why he recorded this demo. He was asked about this when he answered questions on this GNR forum a few years ago.

  • @teambildo me and my friend read a magizene thing about axl and stuff the singer of asphalt ballet and axl were childhood friends and after it didnt make apetite he gave it to asphalt

  • fucking good song, i feel sorry they havent recorded it on higher quality.

  • I love this song... should have been in Appetite, no matter how it started.

  • what are these songs (crash diet, shadow of your love, ain't goin down etc etc)?i 've never heard of them before are they supposed to be on a new album or something?

  • @jimrhcp95 Crash Diet was recorded with Axl and some friends before Appetite for Destruction. It never really had a purpose other than for his friends to screw around with their guitars. If you look for 'The Rumbo Tapes' you can find this song (lower quality) and others, some unreleased, others earlier versions of songs. There were a lot of songs that just never made the cut. Shadow of Your Love was from Axl's previous band, Hollywood Rose.

  • @Vorail It was recorded for Asphalt Ballet before they broke up. The solo is West Arkeen's. The rhythm section includes Del James and Danny Clarke.

  • Comment removed

  • @jimrhcp95 Shadow Of Your Love is one of five rare songs on the Hollywood Rose CD put out in 2004 by Deadline called THE ROOTS OF GUNS N' ROSES.

  • @jimrhcp95 there all very old recordings guns did in the 80s

  • @jimrhcp95 oh and this songs from 1985

  • You should check out PASSION LANE here on youtube!

  • if you guys dont know.. the solo is made by WEST ARKEEN!!!

  • @GaboBarefoot No, it´s not. It´s played by Danny Clarke.

  • @FEVERPITCHROCKNROLL You're thinking of the Asphalt Ballet version.

  • @GaboBarefoot im not necesary jealous. its a piece of shit of solo, slash kick his fucking ass

  • @mathhhias42 fuck off.. what are you doing here if you dont like it?? slash can suck my cock.. he play's with fergie

  • @GaboBarefoot fuck you, you dont know a damn shit about real rock and roll

  • @mathhhias42 sure! rock n roll is to take drugs, smoke weed, drink JD, playing with fergie, paulina rubio, marta sanchez, rihana.. OH WAIT! that's slash hahaha

  • RIP WEST ARKEEN

  • A shot of vitamin C and a bottle of booze..

    fucking awesome

  • Ohh ... and about that argue who replaced whom check this link ----------> w w w.youtube (dot) com /watch?v=db24TKxELiw <------------

  • People, quit bitching! Slash was replacement for Tracii in the band. You could do some search or watch some documentaries. And the sound is like this because people 30 years ago were using magnetic tape for sound recording. Kids, back then people haven't had PC's at home. :)

  • where are the drums?

  • When I hear that song, I think that Axl would more sucess if had recorded this outakes from the GNR classical formation of, instead of the majority of Chinese Democracy songs.

  • Great song - and I love GNR. Having said that - it's kind of ironic that this song appears have an anti-drunk driving message. You think anyone in GNR has ever driven fucked up? You'd think they'd make a song advocating driving wasted...

  • Slash lacks technical proficiency - a) what are you smoking and b) can I have some...

  • @obiwannut Are you sure that is Slash?

  • yeahh!

  • ahh this song is so fucking amazing :D why was it not on appitite ahh

  • this was one of the ORIGINAL guns songs - fuck putting on UYI 2 - it should've been on Appetite...

  • make me think about 14 years, but with Axl's voice. I love it. Axl, Izzy, Slash and duff suck cause they should put this song on Use Your Illusions 2, and not My World...

  • i like it

  • high quality sucks.

  • This sounds like a much harder version of Guns N' Roses, I like it please put it on the next album....

  • Wow, I know this song for about 15 years, but not with that kickass audio quality. Thanks for posting !

  • Long time ago that I've heard this song but I still like it very much. Axl's voice gets right to your soul on this one.

  • i listen to this every day

  • where the hell did you get this?? i want it for me!!! this version is so much better than the Chinese Democracy's...

  • @23grilo88 This song wasn't on Chinese Democracy...

  • @Vorail oops! xD but you know the one i'm talkin about. it's the one that has that chinese democracy ring to it

  • @23grilo88 Do you mean The Rumbo Tapes?

  • Comment removed

  • @Vorail no, no i got confused with the asphalt ballet version... sounded like chinese democracy xD

isn't this one an enhanced version of the rumbo tapes?

  • @Vorail I think he means the one was played with new Guns - youtube.com/watch?v=yx0BZ-f5aVA&feature=related

  • @LajSolSirius That's a cover of the song. It's by a band called Asphalt Ballet. One of the members was a friend of Axl but other than that it has no connection to GN'R other than being a cover.

  • @Vorail Yes, I know that.... And don't think I don't ! xD

  • @Vorail Actually, this was a Guns N' Roses song. It was written in 1985 by Axl and Wes Arken, who is playing guitar on this track. Axl wanted to put this song on their Appetite For Destruction album, but it was never put on the album. So, one of Axl's friends, who is the lead singer of Asphalt Ballet, heard the song and liked it, so Axl signed the rights away to this song, and it became Asphalt Ballet.

  • @supercow34 The rights weren't signed away. Axl is credited for this song on the CD.

  • @rockIIbach he is credited because he wrote it, but the band may own the song now. it's like the beatles songs, they are still credit as written by them of course, but they were all owned by michael jackson

  • @Luxmaxnike they may be owned by the Estate of Michael Jackson, but John & Paul wrote them...learn your shit before you talk shit...drink and drive white lightning faster while you're at it..

    .

  • @obiwannut *facepalm* learn to read, idiot. and all the members of The Beatles wrote songs in the band, not just Paul and Lennon

  • @Vorail Axl did write this song. He is credited for it on the CD. Asphalt Ballet covered this song. Crash Diet was never released on any GNR album.

  • Well than I suppose you must be Axl roses brother and know everything about GNR. I see no proof

  • @mrmusicrocks1 Slash is not on this song. This was not an actual Guns N' Roses song. Axl himself said this song was "about my friends and their guitars that Guns N' Roses" or something to that effect. Chris Webber and West Arkeen are the guitarists on this song. The Drums are a drum machine. West Arkeen wrote it, and he and Chris Webber played on it Go through the comments and you can see that this has already been discussed. Slash is not featured on this track.

  • @mrmusicrocks1 if you cant realise by ear that its not slash there is nothing anybody can do

  • I search it and west arkeen cowries this and other GNR songs but slash is on this song. I'm not a 100% sure though

  • I have a feeling this is slash though...,

  • @mrmusicrocks1 It's not.

  • Slash is lead right?

  • @mrmusicrocks1 No. Slash is not on this song at all.

  • Vinny! Unique.

  • West Arkeen on guitars?

  • @1giblesp yup.

  • I just wanted to say thank you for uploading this, great audio quality too!

  • wait is this a really old song or a new (shit n roses) song? guns n roses have always been my favorite band but i have NEVER heard this lol

  • @thethethetheluis This is an old song.

And please don't bash the new band on here because it's like dominoes, one person starts then everyone else does it and I don't want that here. They are a very talented bunch and I happen to like them quite a bit. Even Duff has said positive things about the new band.

  • Great quality, but it's missing the first 20 seconds or so I think.

  • I love how Axl's voice is so raw and powerful on this track, it's amazing.

  • It's a only a good song till 1:41.

  • @BrokenHeadstock I think it"s good to give it some shredding, a little different from the gnr sound but ok

  • This song was written by Guns N 'Roses or from someone else?

  • @SweetGunsOMine96 it was written by Axl and some friends playing their guitars to see what came out (Just an experiment).. it's West Arkeen on the guitar I think..

  • @miyuris

    thanks :)

  • @SweetGunsOMine96 Your're welcome :)

  • this song rocks

  • Fucking great song, it makes me want to have sex

  • I love this song..Axl's voice is very beautiful...I miss old GN'R :(

  • the solo reminds me of dave mustaine

  • fucking amazing song!!

  • @KISSFAN1970 The audio quality on this song is much better than in the original recording.

  • @KISSFAN1970 i dont know if you know it, but this is a song that never was released by guns. So this one is a very high quality version

  • @Ilocretiko I'm not trying to be a dick but yes I know it was never released but the quality is still poor. There's alot of songs that have never been officially released by different bands but they have and can still have great quality regardless.

  • I don't understand why this song is not included in any of the albums. It's a terrific song with great lyrics.

  • this was gnr in the 80s... before lies i like it alot, heavy shit

  • I have the album that this came off of, The Use Your Illusion Sessions (then later re-released on Unwanted Illusions), which was released in the early 90's. The audio on it sounded exactly like this, edited all scratchy and rough. It just sounded like a rough cut. GREAT JOB uploading this!

  • I have the album that this came off of, Covering Em', which was released in like 1993. The audio on it sounded exactly like this, edited all scratchy and rough. It just sounded like a rough cut. GREAT JOB uploading this!

  • Good quality sound but whats with that image?

  • @Raymond09871 A crash lol

  • Just listening to this makes me all wooshy inside - those were the days!!! Nothing stays the same but my love for those songs. I´m not greedy, I´m grateful! They don´t owe us anything!!! All the best to them!

  • i love this asphalt ballet was anything like this

  • Amazing song minus the solo. Still, I prefer Wildside's version better. I know, I know - how can you like a Guns N' Roses cover better than the original? Well the problem is all we ever got was a demo never a released, perfected version. The solo in their version is better and you have to admit, Axl wasn't singing his best here. This song still rocks though. And good job Vorail.

  • I think this song kicks some SERIOUS ASS!!!! I love everything under the GNR name, and I hope this song's on the next record cause it's got some of that Appetite feel like nothing I've heard since then. Great lyrics, great guitar, great bass, great beat: count me in.

  • This song kicks some SERIOUS ASS!!!!! I love everything under the GNR name period, and I totally hope this is on the next record, because it's got some of that Appetite feel like nothing I've heard since that record. All around, great lyrics, great guitar work, great beat, great bass : Count me in.

  • fuk the new guns n roses guitarists slash and izzy made gnr what they fuking were back in the 80s 90s i give no credit to the new gnr guitarists

  • wow wat a song he should re record it.

  • wow wat a song he should re record it.

  • i thought this was called drinkin' n' drivin'?

  • Vorail you are a legend, it's nice to get a version of the Guns track that is good enough quality to listen to rather than listening to either a crappy-ass staticfest or the Asphalt Ballet version. Though I've gotta say the solo on this track is utter balls, no soul whatsoever.

  • @MuzMuzMuz No problem. I do agree, no soul, but it is very technically proficient. It's hard to find a cross between the two. Slash was full of feel but lacked that technical proficiency, but I think that the guitarists of the New Guns N' Roses hit it on the head. Ashba, Fortus, and Thal all are the perfect blend between the two, you get a great sound out of them. Axl has a real eye for talent.

  • @Vorail I agree about the new line-up remark, i don't think it's Slash on this track though, might be Arkeen from the original line-up, maybe.

  • @Vorail well said my friend \m/

  • @Vorail Ashba is not a good talent, Fortus is good. Bumblefoot is REAL good.

  • @MuzMuzMuz The solo one is without soul, because it is not touched by Slash and is not Guns N ' Roses, is Hollywood Rose (whose guitarist in this moment was not Slash) is not to fight. It is only an explanation ;)

  • @MuzMuzMuz The solo one is without soul, because it is not touched by Slash and is not Guns N ' Roses, is Hollywood Rose (whose guitarist in this moment was not Slash) is not to fight. It is only an explanation ;)

  • this kind of distortion doesnt sound like the guns sound i know....the bassist and drumming doesnt sound as locked either....so ima have to take the uploaders word....this is the original line up's song right??

  • @DudeXMyster This song isn't actually 'Guns N' Roses' officially. Chris Webber, and West Arkeen (who was a behind the scenes member and song writer) were experimenting with their guitars, trying something new. They did this around the period that Guns N' Roses first formed. They used a drum machine for this song, just like with all the demos of Appetite and the Rumbo Tapes demos.

This song was just an experiment. They never meant for it to ever become anything. That's probably why fans love it.

  • @Vorail do you know if the Rumbo Tapes were ever relased? Cuz i really like this song and bring it back home :(

  • @tygnrfan I'm fairly certain it was never released in an official capacity. You can find The Rumbo Tapes (among many other collections of demo's, rare performances, and more) on many different media sharing sites.

  • This really doesn't demonstrate their full capabilities as musicians.

  • @dlong6184 This song was just an experimental project. Chris Webber, West Arkeen, and a few other people were just experimenting with their guitars. It was never meant to be anything more.

  • Kick-ass song. If this demo sounds so good, imagine the finished product.

  • Why aint this song got over a million views? people should be all over it like a tramp on chips?!?!

  • guns n roses.. plain and simple.. axl is gnr!!! nobody could replace axl.. anyone can copy a guitar, bass or drum sound and style.. but the voice of the band is the signature to any band.. name one band (except ac/dc) who replaced their singer and where more successful than the original.. crue and van halen failed.. velvet revolver flopped after their 2nd album was rubbish.. i even met slash 3 weeks ago.. dont get me wrong.. i love ALL of gnr.. but the band would be nothing without W.A.R!!!

  • @tommyrockitroxx I think it wouldnt be anything without (sorry izzy, steven) Axl Slash Duff cause the UYI tour still rocked with matt and gilby , But songwriting izzy, People always say slash is gnr axl is gnr But stop saying that, And realize GNR IS FUCKING GNR!!!!!!

  • Axl and Izzy were the song writing engine of Guns and Roses. When those 2 stopped working together, there were no more Guns and Roses songs worth mentioning.

  • @1giblesp Better, Street Of Dreams, Madagascar, There Was A Time, Prostitute, Sorry, If The World, Riad And The Bedouins, Catcher In The Rye (That last verse in the outro is freaking amazing), Oh My God (great lyrical work.)???

Also, This I Love is one of the best Guns N' Roses songs period. Especially live, fantastic.

  • Can you believe GNR has so many good songs that fucking great songs like this, Bring It Back Home, Cornchucker, Goodnight Tonight, Too Much Too Soon, Just Another Sunday, It Taste Good, Dont It?, Jumpin Jack Flash, Heartbreak Hotel, and how many others cant even make it onto a CD. lol greatest band ever.

  • @stewartmc7 Oh cant forget Shadow of Your Love and Ain't Going Down

  • temon temooon

  • Why wasn't this song on AFD?????

    It's just a brilliant!!!!

  • Why wasn't this song on AFD?????

    It's just a brilliant!!!!

  • es una de las mejores canciones de hollywood rose, tanto como just another sunday que es un tipo balada

  • I like this song...

  • OMG this song is so... Whow. Rock'n Roll Forever!

  • Chris Weber plays good ;)

  • this is a great song, it definatly should have been on appetite

Tracci Gunn original guitarra.

(I hope I did not butcher that, xD.)

  • @Vorail If you preffer you can answer in english,,,,,,for all I know,Slash was in L.A Guns and Axl's band was Hollywood Rose.

  • @elsupertaury75 No, Slash was never in LA Guns. LA Guns was the band of a man named Tracci Guns. One day Axl knocked on Izzy's window and said he wanted to form a new band, Guns N' Roses.

Tracci Guns was the original guitarist of GN'R. Tracci didn't like that Axl outshined him so he left, and then Slash joined Guns N' Roses, hoping to steal Axl for his own band (road crew, the only members of it were Slash and Steven Adler.)

  • @Vorail You are just all making this up ? Whats your recourse caus i read Reckless road and slash his book, And this isnt all right :/

  • @fabio00099 What do you mean? Slash was a replacement for Tracci Guns of LA Guns. That's comment knowledge. Slash only joined Guns N' Roses because he wanted Axl to be the lead singer for his own band, Road Crew (the only members were Slash and Steven Adler.)

You have to remember, what your reading, is people's point of view. Not facts, but memories. Memories can be distorted. A memory can change the color of a car, the shape of a room, it's not 100% reliable.

  • @Vorail Well, how do you know for sure when its just a ''memorie''

  • @fabio00099 It may have been, but it was the collaborative memories of not only members of Guns N' Roses, but the members who had left, as well as the people around them at the time. When you have multiple people telling the same story it is more often then not closer to the truth than any one single story.

  • @Vorail I admit your rightt bout that But idk Just never mind it xD

  • @Vorail That's from Memento" right? The thing you said about memory.

  • @RecyclopsCXVII Very good. One of my favorite films. Guy Pearce is an underrated actor, so is Callum Keith Rennie.

  • @fabio00099 I mean, you can look it up. Tracci Guns, Ole Beich, Rob Gardner, Izzy Stradlin, and Axl Rose was the first line-up of Guns N' Roses. Tracci left because he felt Axl would take the spotlight away from him. Rob Gardner left with him. Ole Beich quit because Izzy and Axl didn't like him and had put an ad out in the newspaper for a new bassist. Duff answered that ad.

Had to edit that, got Beich and Gardner mixed up for a moment.

  • @Vorail Yeah but i can't remember slash wanting axl for hos band :/

  • @elsupertaury75 didnt slash play the last few hollywood rose gigs? then they broke up, i think thts wot i read? im nt critisising, im actualy askin

  • @iloveaxlr0se I don't think so,,,,,,he had a band with Steven and got Axl and Izzy to join them and form guns n roses,,,, after Tracy Gunn left Hollywood Rose of course,

  • Comment removed

  • @elsupertaury75 slash was in hollywood rose for a short period of time. and guns were not formed like that... learn your facts

  • @guth4n17 I said I didn't think so.......if slash and steven joined and played in Hollywood Rose, it's possible,,,,,, but slash and sreven were together in a band and axl and izzy were in another and joined after axl and slash were introduced to each other !!!!!!!!

  • @elsupertaury75 axl and izzy never joined road crew (steven and slash's band). slash tried to get axl in the band but never succeeded. and slash and steven were in hollywood rose in the june of '84. axl, izzy, ole beich, rob gardner and tracii guns formed guns n' roses in the early 85, then ole beich was replaced by duff in the april of '85. after that they were gonna do the hell tour but tracii and rob gardner were too worried about stuff so they fired them and slash and steven joined the band.

  • @guth4n17 I know that Axl and Izzy never joined Road Crew,,,,, I never even mentionned something like that,,,,,, I said Axl and Izzy joined together with Slash and Steven,,,,,,,,but I never said that they where in Road Crew.

  • @elsupertaury75 Slash and Steven were never in Hollywood Rose. They only joined with Axl and Izzy after Guns N' Roses were formed. Once Tracci and Gardner left THEN Slash and Steven joined Guns N' Roses.

Appetite supposedly was all Axl, Izzy, Duff, Slash, and Steven's creation. But I personally believe that the idea for alot of the songs had, at least instrumentally, come from Tracci. I say that because Slash has never done one song that sounds remotely like Appetite since. Tracci has.

  • @Vorail That's what I've been saying,,,,, Slash and Steven weren't in Hollywood Rose,,even if Slash wanted to play together with Axl for a while on Steven's idea.

  • @Vorail false. reckless life, shadow of your love, anything goes those are the songs from Tracci Guns. rest is the work of Slash Izzy Duff Steven Axl

  • walter@: ami me parese q es como decis

  • i think i just shat my pants, it was that good

  • you should listen to this song with earphones on

  • That was Axl Rose's prized Town & Country edition chrysler magic van.. How Ironic this image was used for the video. Steven Adler and Duff had apparently scored $2,500 in mexican crack and they stole Axl's minivan. True tradgedy...

  • @noelstaar LMAO!!

  • drink an drive white lightenin faster hmmmmmm yeaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Guns has been my favorite band for a lot of years, and I still think this song had the potential to be one of the best.
