Failure isn't grunge, but I can see why people would mistake them as grunge, because their sound fits the genre incredibly well. I've always seen them labelled as Alternative metal/post-grunge/Space rock.
Their first album "Comfort" was heavily influenced by grunge.

@jsuka555 so Silverchair isn't from the grunge era because they're from Australia? Most Seattle bands aren't from Seattle either it just had a good scene. I met Kurt Cobain in Seattle in 1988 in the water garden he even said he only comes to Seattle for concerts. But failure is a part of the alternative era and btw Comfort was grunge as much grunge as mudvomit.
@TheHelixSpirit you misunderstood....i was vague, my fault. Yeah, Silverchair i would consider grunge based on the style they played which at that point was your prototypical grunge sound...however in my opinion i don't think Failure was a part of that. Not to say that every "grunge" band sounded the same but after the initial bands became popular you could sniff out the coattail riders = Siverchair. mudvomit?? you talking shit about Mudhoney??
this music is incredible, although the whole album is filled with heroin innuendoes... the most subtile is heliotropic rose... just picture it in a syringe...
Those harmonics are more ripped off by Puddle of Mudd's "Blurry". It's almost the exact same arrangement. Can't sue for using harmonics but you can sue for using them in the exact same order as someone else.
@danzig5 internet morons dont have common sense :D. i dont have to listen to the youtube recordings anymore anyways, i just got my fantastic planet vinyl reissue the other day. XD
failure is the best legal drug there is. no matter what mood your in,. failure will compliment it. my fav song is probably small crimes. so creative. KA fan forever
@polak66678 slipnot's trash anyway: double-bass drum, play the guitar as fast as you can, scream into the mic, i know theres slightly more to it, but not much.
Okay, you were 13 in 1995, 15 years ago & Slipknot's self-titled debut album hadn't even came out yet until 1999. That means you probably never listened to Slipknot at all.
If Maynard James Keenan covers a song of yours, you've made it in my book.

Well actually they're just regular old harmonics. And I don't know, I don't listen to slipknot much anymore. Not since i was like 13.

slipknot is trash compared to meaningful psychedelic music such as failure. !,,!
polak66678 2 years ago 19
Eh, it is all good in its own way. Gotta say though, Failure speaks a lot more to my soul, but Slipknot is great when I need it.
