There was news on youtube directly from the story writers of a news report telling of an oil rig that has been "accidentally" demolished and evacuated. There was a cell phone recording of the rig falling in the ocean, then debris suddenly flying all over the place. This is where the flying debris came from, not some satellit

No, you were close though. Slusho is a drink company based in Japan. Rob was the vice president of that company. They had an ingredient in their drink called deep sea nectar that when consumed by the avergae fish it had it grow to the size of a whale. So it is apparent that some already large fish consumed some nectar which in its raw form would kill a human (stomach explosions) then some crabs or other crab like things also drank some.
The thing falling into the ocean at the end was a Japanese satelite for Takaritum or however that is spelled. They are somehow connected to Slusho.
