  • Halcyon.........

  • This is my favorite song ever.. makes me feel so peacefull! i always study with this song, i sleep with this song and i shower, bike, walk the dogs, travel, and house-keep with this song! Enya's music brings me to a place with no stress, no pressure. A place where the mystique is in charge.. love that feeling..!

  • A couple of years ago when I was in Year 9, our teacher made us put our heads down, close our eyes, listen to this song and use our imagination to see what happened. I imagined myself standing high in the mountains of Alaska. :)

  • @HuskyFan41 I love Alaska

  • @WildAlaskanBlossom Likewise! I've never been there of course. :( But I've often thought I'd like to. :)

  • This is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard

  • Sin é an fáth bhfuil an Ghaeilge an teanga is fearr sa domhan!

  • The hell it is.French is number 1

  • Irish music, like Asian music, European is not guttural music. It's been more open to new places, new people, and new cultures and that is more important. Who cares what language it is? It's should be about music, be it style, language or culture.

  • Look, women working by day and late at night,

They sing of bright days that were,

A long way back and forth forever

  • i love all people yet luv's my clan's are from kilkenny and galway. Never has any of my clans spoke Irish, no such thing. Gaelic is the language of Eire. Peace and your right this song is powerful brings you back to the fairies and little people of the great green land. peace

  • Here is her lyrics: Amharc, mn ag obair l ‘s mall san och’,

Ceolann siad ar laetha geal, a bh,

Bealach fada annon ‘s anall a choch’.

  • 1:11 = chills. Every time.

  • So beautiful and cheerful. When my son, Ciaran, was a baby, I used to put this on and let him bop around in the jolly-jumper, lol. He never squawked when it was on. Her music is so--otherworldly and peaceful. It takes you away from the stresses and demands of the right-here-right-now and just makes you feel good things. What a gift.

  • @Blueboy11033, qué lindo, una belleza. So beautiful my friend,

i´d like to be a native and live in a tribe, with the nature and the animals, free..

    I hate the urban life.

    Beautiful song.Thank you a lot.

  • ITS LOXIAN!!!!! AN INVENTED LANGUAGE DEVELOPED BY ENYA AND RYAN ROMA....GOOLE IT....THANK ME PLEASE FOR FINALLY ANWERING THIS QUESTION!

I LOVE EBY AND I CONSIDER MY SELF LOXIAN AND IM MAKING IT A RELIGION

  • @jamielivefree Actually you're sorely wrong. The language she is singing in is Irish Gaelic!!! A language still spoken.

Ebudae is an older name for the Hebrides Islands in Scotland. This song is based of "waulking" songs. Waulking songs are songs that were sung while beating cloth to make it soft.

  • @draghynmystress LOL. What? You mean it's not Klingon either? I'm so glad you posted that!

  • Anything with Enya ... ٩(-̮̮̃-̃)۶ ♪ ٩(●̮̮̃•̃)۶ ♪ º

  • @TheKitkat132 I have yet to learn it fluently - keep our ancestors' language alive, friend, so that our descendants will know.

  • here is the lyrics: Amharc' mn ag obair' l 's mall san och' Ceolann siad ar laetha geal, a bh Bealach fada annon 's anall a choch'.

  • halcyon

  • Hauntingly spiritual sound. This song is also used in an episode of "Northern Exposure". Search Youtube for the episode titled "MORE LIGHT".. It's an awesome clip. Check it out....

  • I have all the Enya CDs ... looking at these awesome scenes while listen is a pleasant addition to the experience ... awesome

  • Hy everybody!

This song make me see a big big moon...

    I dont no why....

  • Loving light shines upon the woman as she works no matter where she works or what she's working on... but it is the labor of love that is truly eternal...

  • Thank You Nicki .... I appreciate this every single time I listen to it... what you did at one moment, on one day, has lifted me over and over and again...

  • I agree, partially, with the beauty of language. Although, I disagree that Irish is "the most beautiful". As an American, I must admit, American english is atrocious. It doesn't help that there's so much slang in it. I'm learning my Ancestors' algonquin language/Shawnee.

Love the sunset on the northern woods and lake at 1:54. Those sun-shots remind me of being up at Old Fort Niagara, in N.Y. Love it up there!

  • I don´t know what this song is about but it´s definitely my most favourite ENYA song

  • what is this song about? love it...

  • This song makes me want to drop everything and dance. It gives such a good feeling of happiness and remembrance. And, the video amplifies that joyful feeling. Thanks!

  • La canzone di Enya che amo di più.

  • I CAN SING THIS FULL SONG MEMORIZED!!!

  • Comment removed

  • i love this song im irish well part but i have the red hair but i love it enya is an awesome singer

  • Yeah, I agree... It's a shame that Gaelic is not a mandatory language for the newer generations... I really wish they had kept it.

  • 'Gaeilge' is a mandatory language. It is compulsory up until students finish second-level education. There are some exemptions but not many. : )

    "Go n'eirígh an bóthar leat!"

  • Irish is the most beutiful Language in the world. In tonality and syntax.

  • @Arcthoudor you mean gaelic?

  • @Brigantine68 Yes, but most don't know it as Gaelic.

  • @Brigantine68

Irish, Gaelic, It's all the same thing. I speak the same as Eithne. Ulster Irish.

  • @eithneceltica Exactly... in Gaeilge, it's called the Gaoth Dobhair dialect... one of the most fluid, most beautiful dialects of Gaeilge. Such a beautiful language... and a beautiful land.

  • @drparrish830 COOL!!!! I think Tolkien heard this dialect and it sounded so great that he created the elvish language from it! :)

    Eirinn go bragh!

  • @Arcthoudor Italian is the most beautifull language UU

  • @SuperDoriangray Io non so. Lei ha ascoltato a irlandese? Mi piace d'italiano, ma preferisco irlandese.

    Pog mo thoin!!

    Eirinn go bragh!

  • @Arcthoudor ITS LOXIAN!!!!! AN INVENTED LANGUAGE DEVELOPED BY ENYA AND RYAN ROMA....GOOGLE IT....THANK ME PLEASE FOR FINALLY ANWERING THIS QUESTION!

I LOVE EBY AND I CONSIDER MY SELF LOXIAN AND IM MAKING IT A RELIGION

  • @jamielivefree It's not Loxian. They didn't start developing that language until after the Lord of the Rings films... which were made years after this song was recorded.

  • @Arcthoudor Go raibh maith agat, lol

  • @Arcthoudor its Gaelic

  • I prefer English. Just about the only language without guttural sounds. :)

  • @PlanetMan77 Your music taste must be pretty poor. Its called mouth music, not guttural sounds you wally

  • @RunrigFan I don't mean in terms of music, I mean in terms of the overall language. Enya is fantasic, and her music doesn't have many guttural sounds that I can think of. Irish overall does(as do most European and Asian languages other than English).

  • chant to be happy

  • My favorite from Enya. This song makes me to be in other World...feel peace, liberty and happiness!

  • @carima44

Agreed, I grew up listening to this track in the movie "TOYS", loved it back then, love it now

  • WUT LANGUAGE IS THIS?

  • gailic! (irish)

  • @kemosabe73 Actually it's spelled "Gaelic". There are 3 dialects of it spoken in Ireland. Eithne speaks & sings in the Donegal (North Ireland) dialect. What's unique is it's closest dialect is Highland (Scots) Gaelic. Not surprizing as the Scots left from North Ireland to settle in Ebudae (the Inner Hebrides & western coast of Scotland). Ergo, the song sings of the women's spirit needed to work long, hard hours in a newly settled territory. That's make take on it anyway.

  • @Inquisitor53 Correction: Last sentence from previous post should read-"that's MY take on it anyway."

  • @Inquisitor53 saSnack

  • @harmonicgrunt What?

Anyway I consider this song and "The River Sings" both waulking songs. For those who don't know about waulking songs look it up on youtube and listen to a few. It's part of the gaelic heritage.

  • srry, i meant thankyou, reverted to german, oops
