It looks like by killing Luna "the sun named moon" which she is most likely considered to be some kind of goddess of life judging by how revered she is He inadvertantly turned into a god of death. It actually makes sense in a way since alot of religons have deities representing Life and Death.

a good story doesn't have to be revealed completely all of its plot points at the beginning, but it isn't that hard to understand, this two episodes show that casshern for some reason killed a girl considered a goddess and because of it the ruin came and everyone is desperate to survive ^_^

This anime definitely portrays the idea that one mans mistake can effect an entire world. I wish more people would watch this and learn from it.

The "sun" really wasn't the sun as in the big star in the middle of our solar system. The "sun" was a person named Luna. From what I can gather so far, Luna was essentially the last thing that was keeping the Ruin away and humans and robots from dying out. He called the world's last salvation, pretty much ticking off everybody and plunging everything into madness. Or, that's at least my guess at this point.
