  • @gatolokynho No its Andy Latimer singing, playing the flute and guitar. Pete Bardens on keys, Doug Ferguson on bass and Andy Ward on Drums - the early line up..

  • @engleby15 Actually this live version has Mel Collins (from King Crimson) on flute & saxophone. As good as Andy is, even he can't play guitar & flute simultaneously. Richard Sinclair is on bass & vocals. Camel A Live Record is double album in which sides three & four are Snowgoose performed in its entirety. Some songs by the early lineup are on the first two sides.

  • @zismoura I was referring to the studio recording where the tracks are added and mixed. Andy had Mel Collins play on that too. Mel also went on tour a few times with Camel and I was astonished at HIS virtuosity as well as Andy's. Mel was especially good on the Rain Dances tour! The thing is - we like Camel and the music it generated. Long may people listen!

  • This is the band that opened the "progressive doors of perception" to me. Awesome! :D

  • @moowna

  • myworms you ve found another friend

  • I'm 14. Camel is fucking cool.

  • @DASFication the role of drugs in appreciating good music is very exaggerated. drugs are only needed for twitching erratically to monotonous sounds.

  • My band, Ruff Midget, used to cover this - quite well I might add. Camel is the greatest "unknown" band of all time.

  • 17, and Camel is my favorite band

  • La prima volta che ho ascoltato i Camel è stato nel 1983, e da allora mi sono sempre piaciuti. Penso che come rock progressivo, romantico, elegante sono ineguagliabili.Semplicemente....FANTASTICI !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I discovered Camel about 10 years ago. Since then I have purchased about all of their music. They are actually still around, there last studio album was 2002 I believe. Hearing Camel has led me to discover a whole bunch of wonderful music, Renaissance, The Strawbs, Gentle Giant, Captain Beyond, and much more. There are very few bands today that can match the pure talent of the bands from this era. Truly the golden age of prog rock.

  • Latimer voice?

  • "The sun has left the sky

Now you can close your eyes

    Leave all the world behind

    untill tomorrow"

  • 18 years old here. sadly, one of the few...

  • oh so beautiful, oh so simple, oh such classic form, oh such bridge of genre -- dynamic contrasts -- always the flutes, synths, voice -- every lyric with penultimate meaning, purpose, move me -- so many years away from you, literally -- Fritha returns!

  • oh so beautiful, oh so simple, oh such classic form, oh such bridge of genre -- dynamic contrasts -- always the flutes, synths, voice -- every lyric with penultimate meaning, purpose, move me

Camel can easily cope with Pink Floyd btw.

    ;]

  • @Nisei710 yo también soy vuestro amigo

  • we are all friendss!!!

  • CAMEL forever!!!

    genius musicians

  • The sun has left the sky Now you can close your eyes Leave all the world behind until tomorrow The dream is like a song It leads you on and on The piper plays his tune so you must follow So far beyond the sky Not knowing how or why You realize this feeling is forever And though another day May steal your dreams away You and the song will always stay together
  • perfect!!CAMEL for ever!

  • this son is amazing moonmadness takes your mind to the moon aaaaah

  • His voice is cristal clear on this live recording... even better than on the studio track!!! Amazing.... I could cry...

  • Keep in mind that it's not the same guy singing on both versions. On the studio album (Moonmadness) it's Doug Ferguson who sings and plays the bass, and on this version (A Live Record) Richar Sinlair sings and plays the bass.

  • Aha! I see... I didn't know that. I was just listening to Caravan and recognised Sinclair's voice. Didn't know he was in Caravan too!! :)

  • Yes indeed. On the tour in 1978 Camel toured with Jan Schelaas, Dave Sinclair and Richard Sinclair, who were all former Caravan members. (Of course, Andy Latimer and Andy Ward was on the tour as well!) In fact, Andy Latimer thought about changing the name from Camel to Caramel =)

  • this is without doubt rich sinclair on lead vocals & i think doug ferguson does it on the original studio album moonmadness

Thank you very much Camel fans!

  • :-) no problem, its a pleasure to listen to this great music ;)

  • @Nisei710 I am the 21853 view.. I like this live version.. thanks for uploading

  • @nalcow No problem!

  • I used to play this song in a band named Ruff Midget (get it, Gentle Giant fans?). The Moog solo was always one of my favorites to play - fairly simple, but with a nice melody of triplets and several glide (portamento for non-Moog synths) adjustments.

  • T H E S O N G!

  • the best song ever, the best band ever!!!!!!!

  • One of my favourite songs, absolutely wonderful

  • Such a beautiful song, such a shame it isn't more prevalent.

  • yes Fripp singing for Camel...???

  • thanks for the info...

  • Actually, I think its the former Caravan member Richard Sinclair who are singing, but anyway..

  • the best band in the universe

  • I love this band from a great musical era.

  • definitevely the vocals are quite better than those in the original version. In the original version the singer sounds exhausted...but the arrangements are better in the original version than in this one...THIS VERSION IS QUITE FM SOUND!

  • this is probably the best song ever authored and performed maybe because of the romantic, melancholic mood of the melody....but the lyrics is actually a REQUIEM!!!

  • i have the live version in VHS :D

  • shut up sano u.u

  • LA MEJOR CANCIONN

  • Nice, I like the slower and deeper singing in this version.

  • This song is fucking amazing!

  • Does anyone have this song with live video cause I've been looking for it for some time now and its getting annoying that no one puts this song up. Its my favorite song of Camel in general and I'm just so tired of not having this song live.

  • great song......

    within a song........thanks

  • śit
