  • These drills look very helpful. Nice post.

  • This is real Hung gar I never see the realiest like this before and if somebody who anti-kung fu I wanna tell them the real kung fu u can't see on internet...

  • hi hungaruk and ibuchanan82,

are you the same guy using 2 user name? as ibuchanan82 say he's the guy uploading this clip. Generally this clip is high quality, thanks for sharing. My advice is WHY ALL THE WESTERNERS ARE STILL HOLDING THE WESATERN BOXING POST(2 fists around head) time 0.02 and 0.19 etc. etc....??????? This is very friendly proposal and I'm sure I like Lau Family !!!Place your fist as the pure HungGar==that's at your waistside and strike!!

  • we are from england

    as is boxing

perhaps it is as simple as this; plus, it is more natural, therefore?

  • Nice to meet you Yarwer.

    -HungGar lover from Hongkong-

  • likewise, a pleasure : ]

  • Great school. They obviously have poor diets though. You cannot train like that all the time and be so overweight without eating too much fried and greasy foods. Now before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, I am not insulting the school or it's students, I am simply making a clear observation of something most real. Physical training is something to be well rounded and that includes a good diet. People who practice tend to take health for granted, they eat bad, some smoke, etc. Just saying.

  • why do hung guys leave there rear hand out behind them when they through thos big arcing punches?

  • touch hands with a hung player and find out.

  • wont be able to if his hands are althe way back there dude....

im assuming its to generate torque in that vertical looking strike?

im just thinking its alot of exsposure mid strike?

  • :D well im still an advocate of try it before you talk about it. Not to say you gentleman arent wrong for your views or concerns. But go touch hands and find out if thats just how they TRAIN certain hand techniques and if its different to how they fight with those techniques. You will be surprised.

  • Why are you so fed up?Can you answer or not, no one is trying to diss the method, we´re just curious.

  • i think i've answered the question on the previous posts but i could also say that if your facing a true hung ga practitioner he's on the attack not you even if he is defending he is attacking. If you watch those arching punches you will see a sly strike with the other hand moments before it is pulled back to unleash the big gun, this could be defensive

  • why did you answer me????

    i never wrote you

  • because I uploaded this video on behalf of my sifu, i feel its my responsibility to answer questions where I can

  • Ok. I understand that, but you should answer to the other guy, as I already knew that before.I´m a Kungfu practitioner myself.

  • yeah, i answered a few people

  • why did you ask for it to be clarified then.

  • I didn´t. I responded to a totally different guy, using a rethorical question.

  • it seems that guy's comment has been deleted, then

also, your comment is in a reply thread - click on "all comments" you will see why people are getting confused

  • I´ll explain it:I answered cubgrumpz.

Keep that in mind and read through once more.

I was just a bit pissed off by his attitude and his talking around the subject in circles instead of giving an answer.

  • yeah, i know the guy;

he thinks actions speak louder than words, so i assume he is mainly fed-up with words

so, he would prefer that people actually go find a hung gar player/school and find out the answers: rather than theorising all the time

    each to their own right?

the hand kept behind is as ibuchana82 has mentioned; as a surprise tactic and slyness - to leave an opening then close it

  • it could leave the mid section exposed but just watch the guy at the start and think about what you would be doing as his opponent. during his exposed strike you would be on the defensive. Now if the hung ga practitioner has done everything correctly and developed bone mass during conditioning your defending arm should be broken by that downward strike.

  • i think it may be to train the tendons in the arms; and to bring a "surprise attack" element into play - the punches are also based around those kind of lines of attack

  • Hung Ga does have some unique training methods, I believe this is to do with ying/yang. When training with a pole an upword strike requires an equal amount of downward pressure at the end of the pole as well as upward pressure at the mid section to generate most power. I think this is the same thing

  • that was pretty cool pad training. awsome vid guys. thnks for posting

  • God, I'm so pleased that I am a martial artist.

  • That is really cool.

  • I really enjoy the pad training on this video

  • good
