DSG is an automated manual transmission which operates two clutches, one which holds odd (1, 3, 5) gears and another one which holds even gears (2, 4, 6). While one gear is in use the second clutch has already selected the next gear, offering a seamless, lightning-quick gear change. Audi's version is called 'S Tronic,' and that's the gearbox in used in the Audi TTS. Trust me, even the most convinced manual-tranny fanatics have been converted by this gearbox.
