  • If you have the skills of an Intermediate to Pro Linux user you should use Arch or an Arch-based distro

  • i think i will go download the first creed album off a torrent site. using free transmission program of course.

  • I actually tried to thumbs down twice.

  • Hmmmm. That was four years ago...what would you recommend for today's budget builders?

  • Great vid!!!...I prefer The Doors or Zeppelin but thats minor.....

  • You could make it out of a fridge and magnet and it would run on it.

  • Ubuntu sucks! use a good linux distri

  • I think backtrack linux is the best and then ubuntu

  • @jamesc001100 You do know what distro BackTrack is forked from right?

  • Some Rid you made. you should check out the ones I made

  • nice video, and creed! nice song too :)

  • my new pc build thats gonna run pinguy os 11.10 and win7

    specs

    msi p67s-c43

    intel core i5 2500k

    kingston gamer 2 4gb

    gtx 550 ti 1gb

    600wattt psu

    19inch LED monitor

    cooler master 690 II

  • excellent!!!!

  • Is it me or is the ram installed as single channel? Doesnt this board have 1-3-2-4 slot layout?

  • the 630a chipset doesn't do AHCI/ native command queing, and doesn't play really well with the Newest SSD's. (or at least OCZ ones) from my experience

The ASUS M4A78LT-M uses AHCI, and I haven't found a feature on the board yet that isn't supported. Even temp and fan speeds report properly. (I haven't tested turbo key yet)

  • This should be updated... wait, maybe that'll be my next project.

  • I have had fewer problems installing Fedora than Ubuntu

  • ha ha, quality computer, and you use AMD procesor?

  • can you please tell me how the end product cost you thanks!

  • ..That moment t 3;11 was a welcome wake up at 3 am! Thanks...excellent spot one thing though...what do you recommend for a good tool set...

  • Ubuntu is too slow. People! Debian is the Thing you want! Debian is The Univer operating system, and it boosts speed!. It was here before Ubuntu, mint, or Ultimate Edition. Before Debian there WAS no dpkg!

  • how u get ubuntu to look like the cube at the end?

  • @oldtimegamelover Just google up 'How to install compiz in ubuntu', I am a debian user, and there is alot of guides for Debian, and if we take that Ubuntu has more users, it is inpossible to there be no guide o how to do it. But the xorg.conf part may be a bit tricky of you are a new linux user.

  • @merkur32123 Ubuntu has no xorg.conf. I don't know why or how, but it seems to store X configuration differently. It's more than a bit strange.

  • seagate drives are fail.

  • im using an ssd cuz its faster :)

  • @Macintosh3745 yes, but you can't download big files in 32 GB or 64 GB drives

  • great computer, and music. Did you make this video on ubuntu?

  • This os is refreshing. I feel I have been freed from the windows matrix.

  • good but I got better

  • Oh damn. It's almost exactly what I have xD

  • Sorry to say but... AMD is just a waste of money... Simplier said their unstale, overheat and have a nice chance on cooking themselves..while on the other hand Intel has got nice and cool processors worth the money and stable processors that rock... But since this vid is form 2008 i am assuming you have switched to intel processors by now :P

  • @tabbiepsu Ive had an AMD processor for about 3 years now...and it's still running great...plus they're cheaper and do what i need them to do =)

  • I bought a brand new blank HD and i just need to install Ubuntu. I tried with a USB but it didn't work. So do I need the actual CD in order to install it? Please help me it is my last step to get it running.

  • @The0Rev burn to disk then install to usb,im running linux mint 9 isadora with only a 4 gig usb stick, the application took up 2.5 gigs of the usb stick

  • @The0Rev burn a disk and install into either your hard drive or usb stick requires 2.5 gigs of space.

  • @calclif So all I need to do is have the disc, which I'm ordering from Ubuntu (9.10), wait for the BIOs to load and pop it in?

  • @The0Rev

Download the iso for 10.04, burn it to CD, set the bios to boot to cd (if in the drive) before booting to hard drive, and you are good to go.

  • @ubuntubuilder what is your opinion of Lynx? Better than 9.10?

  • @The0Rev - Easiest install and best looking to date. Haven't used it enough yet to know about any problems.

  • @ubuntubuilder Also to make clear this a brand new out of the box western Digital HD I have no idea what to do with it other than hook it up and pop in the installation CD.

  • @The0Rev What computer are you putting it on?

  • nice video. ★★★★★

  • ive had bad experience with ubuntu and amd.

  • y would anyone want to use onboard graphics? I didn't even know they still built them. Get a NiVida their good about linux suppourt. And an AMD!!???

  • every pc has on board graphics and even if you have a pc with a graphics card it has on board, its just not being used.

  • would u like to see a pic of the back of my gigabyte board? Not Every Mobo, has on board and in recent history most do not

  • No, every motherboard does not have onboard graphics.

  • actually ubuntu's graphics etc dont rlly demand much and they look awesome so onboard graphics are good enough u dont need nVidia. and yes AMD>Intel

  • do the wires come with the stuff?

  • Hw=ow much does this cost in total, preferably in gbp or £

  • will linux mint run well on a 2gb Ram, nVidia 9400gt geforce 1gm ddr2 mem, and amd processor??

  • I don't use mint but that sounds like it would work pretty well.

  • hmm, i tried ubuntu and mint, mint seems to run better on my PC but is there a way to play windows games on linux without wine...i also hear that valve are porting the source engine to linux

  • what is the dif between mint7 and 9.04's requirements then?

  • depends on how powerful the processor is, and ubuntu runs good on most processors out there.

  • ubuntu can run on a processor that was made in 98' without any problems.

  • @Zerorebels Which is why i keep tring to figure out how to install ubuntu drivers and stuff... I wont stop till i've tried this piece of nice chicken :D

  • @tabbiepsu

    its not that hard

    system>preferences>update manager

or (never used this so never bothered to remember it)

    Sudo -update drivers

  • @Zerorebels thanks mate :)

im a noob wiht linux but this will help me with the start off :D

  • @tabbiepsu

    you are welcome, also

Sudo aptitude update works too. i just tested it out, another alternatives is to go to

amd.com and look for the drivers manually>linux>Ubuntu same for nvidia

  • @Zerorebels yep, I have a computer with pentium 4 and it ran a 720p video :)

  • @Zerorebels I'm sure Ubuntu can run, but probably not many of today's applications. (My Core Duo 2.13 GHz is struggling a little bit.)

  • @bikutorusan

Currently im running on a desktop(Ubuntu 10.10 i dont really like the new unity thing on ubuntu) using an AMD Phenom II x4 965 black edition running @ an overclock of 4.2GHz, a duo crossfireX 5770 ATI radeon(sapphire) video card 8 Gigs of ram, etc etc and runs just fine and this is saying alot due to the lack of support for AMD/Ati, not struggling no issues, nothing. maybe if you run things with unity try downgrading

  • @Zerorebels It's not Unity because I'm not running it (I'm running gnome-shell). Either way, both Unity and gnome-shell off-load most of the processing to the GPU (they are both h/w-accelerated). I have a GeForce GTX 580, so Unity and gnome-shell are running extremely smoothly. That's not it -- applications handled on the CPU require more and more processing power these days. Ubuntu or Windows, it doesn't really matter. If the apps are CPU-heavy, I need to upgrade. :-\ Same for the RAM. :-)

  • @mearsy09 It'll run great with that?

  • very, very nice. good custom PC, the best OS...gnu/Linux Ubuntu and the background music "Creed - Torn" five stars dude!

  • Western Digital > seagate

  • Who you trust with your data is your personal choice I guess.

  • i would go with seagate. but thats just me.

  • I have a seagate external hard drive its nice and small too

  • yes i like this video .. nice work man .. and i love the Ubuntu too its amazing Os..

  • Ubuntu is cool

I have it running on my old Dell with a G-Force V.Card and also have it on a Gateway P4 model which doesn't have a fancy card, but is still cool

    I am loading 8.10 as I type

    I love winter

I can actually play with my computers and say "WELL IT SUX OUTSIDE SO WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO DO"

  • its dont cool for me its sucked my computer

  • or you can just go grab a laptopt from the junkyard. ubuntu runs fast on anything

  • True, but this runs Compiz with no compromises.

  • wow bro this looks real cool i should try this where did u get all the parts from an how much did this all cost in the end

  • About $400 at NCIX

  • When $400 ? Aug 2008?

    prices always fall down, right?

  • nice video

    i love Ubuntu :)

  • Cool Computer parts
