  • it is disgusting that it has taken so much effort to get this issue into the voters hands for our opinion on the matter. our government would be more appreciated and effective if the majority of major issues affecting the entire population would be voted on by the population. if we cannot vote we cannot have our voices heard, and i do believe that is supposed to be one of our most protected freedoms in this country.

  • Regardless in California weed with a tax sticker on it will not be big seller or popular like they think it will be. Who want's to give the government more money?

Millions of smokers already know how to get it or grow it without paying a tax's.

  • somebody pinch me, i must be dreaming!

  • The people that are against it have an axe to grind -- that is, their law enforcement jobs could be lost!

  • America, come see me. I am traveling across this great Nation of ours to gather signatures for the IMMEDIATE RE-LEGALIZATION OF CANNABIS, AS IT PERTAINS TO OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS.

visit my channel, be ready when I travel to a city near you. get out your pens.

  • that preacher is crazy, r u kidding me, this will help the communities, stoping people from getting arrested, there will be jobs, Fathers can acrtually be home with there kids, not in Jail, Kids wont be able to buy it on the corner, it is more easy now, so what is that preacher talking about, God made the Herb, God told Moses to take Sweet Cannibus goes to show how Hyporcritcal some preachers are

  • great work california, keep up good work, God told Moses to take "Sweet Calamus" two hundred and fifty shekels, Get it Legal Cali, it is about time, finally people fighting back for there rights, great work legalize the Natural Herb

  • i dont think they understand how many lives their gonna be lost.. stupid fucker i guess NONE!!! nobody has died of cannabis and nobody will!!!! just becouse he is an old crack ni##er wich he said HIMSELF

  • lol "Cashing in on Cannibas" it is spelt Cannabis.

  • How many idiots can there be saying bad things about legalizing a drug. um alcohol and nicotine are both fucking drugs are they as bad/worse than marijuana? YES but hey lets tax and regulate them and educate people about how bad they are and not do they same with a less harmful and just as wanted drug. so of course we shouldn't do that with marijuana I'm sure smoking cancer soaked cigarettes or dying of alcohol poisoning or drunk driving is a much better idea than smoking a joint. hypocrisy imo

  • Well the stupid thing is they can keep it illegal, I'll just keep going to my drug dealer. And keeping it legal is worse for our youth, but these people can plead ignorance thats all.

  • I can't believe that cop is fighting against regulation and taxation of marijuana when he thinks it is dangerous to our youth! Does he not know how easy it is for a high school kid to buy some weed right now?! Do drug dealers card your children? I've never seen one do it! And he thinks its harmful to the public in general? Give me a break! I suppose he thinks alcohol is the safest drug on the planet. How ignorant can one person be??

  • 2010 the year of our legalization.

  • See Yall In Cali :)

  • please call the health commitee & ask them why are they stalling on this. Their phone # is 916-319-2009 ask them why.

  • I just called the Health Committee which is the next step to put this into law. They said that Tom Ammiano "requested" that they don't approve the bill. I called back after checking with Tom's office. THEY LIED TO ME!!!!Then they said it didn't/couldn't meet their Friday deadline for a hearing. I smell somthing VERY fishy

  • Once again fascist pigs subvert the will of the people.

  • LoL at the Person who says "too many lives will be lost." Wtf, all the opponents of this bill don't even know what they are talking about, they are just fear mongering.

  • A black preacher that is against marijuana legalization should be called out as a race traitor. Marijuana laws have been racist since their inception, and blacks/hispanics are approximately 4 times more likely to be arrested/jailed for marijuana possession/trafficking. The black preacher must therefore be fine with having his fellow black citizens jailed for a victimless crime.

  • @TheSkinzilla THAT BLACK GUY LOOKED STONED

  • Marijuana is not a drug. It's an herb. And should not be classified the same as heroine, cocaine, or meth. And is no more a gateway to other intoxicants than alcohol. And safer too. Both medically & socially. Because no one's ever died from a THC overdose. Nor has there been anywhere near as many auto accidents from marijuana than there has from alcohol. And I don't mind paying a tax. But if it's exorbitant (like $50), then I'll just continue to buy it from the black market rather than legally.

  • If this passes, there won't be a black market. I'm fine with a $50 tax if it legitimizes the MJ market.

  • If future legal marijuana is not competitively priced with current prices, then don't think there won't continue to be a black market. Maybe you can afford high potency strains that sell for $400 - $500 an ounce, plus a $50 tax on top of that. But there are many like me who can only afford lower grade strains. So if any future legal market wants my business, then it will have to provide what I can afford with a much less tax. Or else I'll either continue to buy it illegally, or else grow my own.

  • The anti-cannabis people doesn't seem to understand that those who wants to smoke CB will do it whether it's illegal or not. With cannabis leaglized, it'll be regulated so that young people gets it harder to buy this "devils weed". I bet that the black anti-cannabis-dude took a beer or two the same night.

  • Go Cali!!!

  • "i don't think they understand how many lives are gonna be lost"

that dumbass. . . i dont even need to explain why this statement is bullshit

  • Nice typo. It's cannabis!

  • Well, guess we're Finally come out of the dark ages, where $1million dollar a day in lobbying from the pharmaceuticals, is failing. Did I mention that it CURES caner. Oh that's just a little thing isn't it.

  • SSDP, fix the damn video description! They haven't passed it yet.

You wanna talk about carnage, black priest whatever the fuck your name is?? How about the carnage from the War on Drugs?? Lives lost? What about all the lives lost BECAUSE of prohibition? Don't talk to me or any of the families affected by this about that, you morons! You have no evidence to back up your claims.

None of the lives lost, of course, weren't and never will be actually due to consumption of pot!

  • Actually Dawn, the active ingredient in Cannabis(THC), when injected directly into a cancerous tumor, during a Canadian study not too long ago, showed a reduction in the size of the cancerous growth by over 90%, and it became benign.

  • Thanx for the info... researching now. Never heard of this, not as a cure. Thanx for the info. Imagine what else will be learned when more studies are done!

  • $50 an ounce? That's nearly 50% on the total cost! They better come up with a better ratio, or users will continue to go to underground markets. Especially with how close they are to Mexico?

  • No we'll grow our own. Personal crops are just that personal. THAT'S the up side of this. They can't tax you for personal crops for your own consumption. That's why the lobbying against this bill has been so huge. A 4 to 3 win on this bill. Thank you.

  • its a buisness tax, not a sales tax.

we're not the ones paying $50 an ounce.

  • It's surprises me that there are people that STILL don't know it's a cure for cancer. This will go through and will be saving lives.

  • Not a cure, though it does help provide relief from the treatments for cancer. Also beneficial to many many other ailments.

  • Do some research, the cannibiods in marijuana affect the production of BH-1 which inhibits (stops) the ability of cancer cells to reproduce. I.E. stops the growth of cancer tumors.

  • Really? This is the first I've ever heard of this, and I helped campaign for med mj through an alternative healing center. This was never listed as one of the benefits, and I do wonder why. I'll check it out though, definitely. And I hope it's true! Dang, I won't have to worry about cancer, or glaucoma!

  • @DawnLaurene It's definitely true. I visit NORML almost every day, for maybe 3 years now - there have been perhaps 50-100 studies done in just this period showing an inverse proportion between a) the incidence b) rate of progression between cannabis use and various cancers. some people like Rick Simpson go a great deal further - but I don't think his claims are backed by peer-reviewed journals.

  • Yea, I'm finding lots of stuff, but none of it seems to be supported by peer reviews. Even the Journal of the National Cancer Institute from last year says that further testing is needed to see if it'll work in humans. It's hopeful.

  • @DawnLaurene

Really, because I can drop a dozen recent journal articles on you everywhere from cancer journals to psychiatry journals to neuroscience journals all showing cannabis almost completely harmless and very medicinal. The science is in, there's no pretending anymore. Prohibition is a religion based on faith for the drug warriors. They subvert the science on purpose and it is no coincidence that they use churches to fear monger.

  • Please do! You could send me a pm ~ don't want to clog this thread too much; unless all the comments are good?

But, I'd love the info ... It would only help to make strengthen the argument when I have to make one ...

Funny thing about working for legalization & collecting signature on petitions? I was floored to collect more signatures from seniors than from college kids. They looked at me like I was trying to get meth legalized.

Thanx for being a time saver!

  • @DawnLaurene
