Apperence wise I actually like some of the things from N64 better than Wii for example I like the way the trees on the Mario track have a bigger band color difference,and on the Donky Kong jungle track I like the touch of clouds right off the launch ramp and finally the lava on the Bowser level looks more fitting.

On MKW, Spiny Shells, Lightning Stricks, POW Blocks, and Bloopers are over abused. You're usually going to encounter 2 Lightnings, 3-5 Bloopers, 2 POW Blocks, and a Spiny Shell(sometumes up to 5), all in one race. And it's pretty boring when you're in 1st place. You're only limited to Green Shells, Bananas, and Fake Item Boxes. It's no fun when you know what you're going to get.

Overall, MK Wii is better. It has more features, it handles better, etc. However, for the capabilities of the system, 64 blows it away. Compare MK Wii to Super Mario Galaxy and try to tell me Nintendo made Kart's graphics as good as they could have been. Also, they messed up the battle mode. The stages feel like they're meant for playing with a lot of people online, but not with 4 people at your house. Why didn't they include Block Fort? Also they took out the very fun bomb battle from DD.

Personally, I'd prefer Mario Kart Wii because because it has a way less slippery soap-like engine and you can do a lot more in general in that game.

Although don't we ALL agree that the Nintendo 64 games in some ways just look that much better because of the fact we're seeing so many more bright colors and more variation on the court? Mario Kart Wii is just a bunch-load of lightning effects which make nearly everything look orange in DK's Parkway, aka boring to the eyes. Colors rock, kids!

Those who have played Unreal 1 (not UT- just Unreal) and Zelda: Link's Awakening (2 versions: GB version and GBC version, GB version is better because it is uncensored) will notice how much atmosphere they have though they have "bad grafics". Furthermore I'm just tired of all this bloom-effects. I don't say they shouldn't use it but in today's games they OVERuse it.

MK64 is as good as MK Wii. That's rare these days!

The Wii version may have superior and more defined graphics but, it looks so bland and washed out in comparison to the N64 version's richer colors. It seems that in some apects the graphics in Mario Kart Wii look alot more realistic and less cartoon like, but realism was never really Mario Kart's strong suit.
