I play ac/dc style, even Peter Green style and some clapton, and i'am awaiting an Gibson SG Custom Shop V.O.S Reissue with Tremolo arm and Faded Cherry color, i've heard Angus Young have used PAF pickups and these sounds great, for a good Angus Tone, do these pickups(if overwound), makes his ''tone''? I really wanna put another set of pickups on the guitar when it arrives so i have these in mind. Any advice ? =)
Honestly these are, in my opinion the best sounding pick ups (Lindy Fralin). I love that they are hand made with precision, care & detail. I have seen many reviews on SD's,DiMarzio's etc. & have fiends that swear by them & they are not as good as these. I will soon install HC P90's on my Casino. Great quality, made here!
These babies are the real deal. I was skeptical because I've tried many other hum canceling P90s claiming they sounded like a real P90, only to be very disappointed.
Not the case with these guys! I have have them in one of my most expensive custom guitars and now I can play it anywhere, and not have to listen to my band mates complain about the HUM!. Great Pickup!!! I have both bridge and neck. Thanks Lindy!!
man you make nice p90's...gibson custom shop & lollar make good p/ups but your 5% overwind in my 57jr is something to be heard!!! very rich 'n' full sounding, i've 3 guitars with'em..heads above!!!....tell me, how close are those hum canceling models to your regular p90's??? any loss of what i'm used to??? i'm happy with'em, but you know!!
I'm probably not the best person to answer that, but to my ears they are very close. Please visit the official Fralin website or youtube channel to ask Lindy himself. I'm sure he'd be glad to talk to you. Best, BW
Does anyone know if you can get original P90 pickups modded to be hum-cancelling?.. because my Gibson LP Special sounds great, plays great but hums like a gooden..!
Thanks for the demo. I am playing an ES-339 through a Tone King Comet. Guitar has Gibson '57s. people claim to love them, but I find the bridge harsh on the treble strings and the neck muddy. I was thinking of unbuckers, but seeing this and reading that you like these virtual PAFs, I am wondering about your opinion. Any help appreciated.
Please visit the official Fralin Pickups youtube channel to ask Lindy himself. I'm probably not qualified to answer your question. Sorry about the delayed reply!!
I would love to hear a side by side comparison of these hum canceling p90s next to regular p90s. If they sound good next to regular p90s I would go and buy a set.
@marvelboy04 I can guess some letters, something as well as: R_b_igz... R_d_iyz... but i'm not sure... could be Rodriguez? I've never seen this brand before but the Special DC looks awesome
It was built by Tommy Rodriguez in Richmond, VA. Tom builds about 15 guitars a year. Check this out to learn more: virtualwoodshed[dot]com/tommy-rodriguez/
Hi, I'm Lindy Fralin. We just did some more videos last night and I did use a pick. They will be up soon. I also turned the amp up and did some playing through pedals for more agressive sounds. Thanks, Lindy
I love Fralin pickups have them in a few strats. Got a set of the hum canceling p-90's for a 56 LP reissue and although the tone is smooth and is this video I find the output very weak perhaps somthing gets lost in the lack of hum but these sound more like P-100's which kind of suck tone.
Love Lindy's pick ups but not sure about these. Alos running the guitar with no pedals into a Dr Z maz 18 and or a Fender Super Reverb.
I've been using Lindy's pick up for more than 6,7 years. I have P-90, real 54, and P bass, Jazz bass..and never met better pick ups including vintage. Sometimes friends ask me to customize their guitar or bass, and I install Lindy's PU. they always love the sound! I care about other parts, too. including wire. but if the pick up is not right, never get good sound from changing other equipments. cables, effects, amps. (except, skill of playing ..) I always appreciate Lindys work. thank you!
I would really love to hear the Fralin variations for p-90 dog ears on a semi-hollow body. I've been wanting to change the pickups in a Riviera P93 for a while now. I'm interested in Fralins, but can't find a video of them on a semi-hollow body. Can anyone help? Also, I can't find any demos of a Gibson p90 in an Epiphone semi-hollowbody either. This would be helpful, too. Thanks!
Lindy has a '56 ES225 that is set up with those, so that would be pretty close! We can do that. You might want to call him and request it yourself too. 804-358-2699. Thanks!
I've listened to like a hundred demos on Fralin pickups before I bought the Blues Specials and it seems that whatever they make you can't go wrong with it!
Wow...beautiful tone...and finally get to see what Lindy Fralin looks like...If you could pls demo the P92, there's so much talk of it but very few demo's. Would love to hear how they sound and stack up against these noiseless P90's. Maybe with a lil gain as well.
What pot value was used with those noiseless p90's? 500k or 1meg?

hey, would you recommend a p90 bridge/humbucker neck combination? i like the idea of a fat neck sound and a biting bridge tone.
if the relative dc resistance was 8.5k (bridge) and 7.2k (neck) would i have any output issues?
aektzis91 11 months ago
Wow! Everything Lindy Fralin sounds awesome! I like the P90's best though.

Are the hum-cancelling P90's hum-cancelling only in the middle position, or in all 3 positions?

@EuropeFactor
They are hum cancelling in all three positions.

I want one of these P-90s in a single-pickup guitar, but does that mean the hum canceling feature would be negated?
chillman4130 1 year ago
No. The pickup is hum canceling all by itself, just like a humbucker. Thanks, Brian Williams

Are the Hum Canceling P-90's the same height as normal P-90's or are they taller? I can't seem to find info on dimensions. Sounds awesome though. :)
thatguy1957 2 years ago
Yep, I'm about 99% sure they fit under a normal P-90 cover, but you may want to call Lindy to confirm before ordering. Thanks, Brian Williams
