  • Canada is full of some of the greatest songs and bands............. 70s and 80s...... beats this new shit to a pulp!

  • This song is amazing, it makes me feel so crazy when kenny says "i wonder whats wrong with me" I wish all voices sounded like his.

  • Day when the radio was King music was music great song

  • kenny shields rocked I worked for a guy whos daughter was dating him supposedly

  • @Tyee59 I've known Kenny all my life, he grew up in Nokomis SK Canada with my mom. He's a class act.

  • i love this song!!!!

  • This is a pumped up version of British rock song by the same title. Can't remember the name of the Brit band though.

  • @camlpg Could it be the Van Morrison version you're thinking of? It's always been my favorite version...

  • @mountaingirlcanada Yeah that is the one. Just listened to Van Morrison. I like Van Morrison's voice better but a little too pop-rock sounding for me. Steetheart version is pretty good but I think this song would be best with a Tom Petty Band style rythm and sound.

  • @mountaingirlcanada Check out Tom Petty Band song, ' A Woman In Love (It's Not Me) ' on youtube. This song follows same subject and style as 'Here Comes the Night'. One of TP's less popular songs but my fav TP song.

  • wow didnt know this is streetheart. i only know them from the song snow white.

  • streetheart done a few awesome covers!!! this is one!

  • Gotta love how they play twice a year in Winnipeg, I turned 20 a month ago and I heard kenny and the boys 3 years ago with my dad and his 92 citi fm addiction :P I can't stop listening to them I can't wait to see them live finally year

  • brought in 2011 with kenny and the boys at canad inns winnipeg man. oh yeah he's still got "it"

  • They're from all over Canada but they officially call winnipeg MB their home town, but who cares Best BAND FROM CANADA EVER!

  • This is one of the few times, in any medium, when the remake surpasses the original. Love this song.

  • LEAD SINGER IS FROM SASKATCHEWAN

  • I heard they were from Regina Saskatchewan...Vagina So-scratch-you-one! I used to live there, it's a frozen hell of a place to live! :(

  • @Meaneviljoe Oh come on, it's not that bad......we don't hit the deep freeze that often when the white blanket hits; besides it builds character and makes you appreciate the sun and sand others take for granted. As for the Vagina comment, well that depends on your age, hormonal activity and sense of humor. Cheers! LOL

  • AWESOME!!!!

I love Streetheart ... This was and is still frikkin Amazing Best Canadian Band I never got to see.

I did see Kenny Shields in Kenora years ago

But it isn't quite the same ....

    Thanks for posting this

  • @brianbrunette at the Harbourfront?

  • Better than the original 10 fold.

  • One of the best covers, eh?

  • I was just digging through my record crates and found this gem...what a song!

  • Loverboy, before the name change and the fame. They were so cool in the day. Picture and local band this good.

  • just so everyone knows Streetheart is from Regina Saskatchewan..

  • @306queencitygirl Thats wrong. "Streetheart is a Canadian rock band, from Winnipeg, Manitoba that got its start in Regina, Saskatchewan." Quote from Wikipedia.

  • @306queencitygirl kenny was born and raised in Southy sask. just north of Regina.

  • @69screw

    Regina? Is that near Vagina?

  • @jx14aby no thats the a-hole....lol

  • One of my favourite Streetheart songs!

  • hhhhhhhmmmmm such a great Brit song .... hhhhhm along it reminds me of a brit pu and cool people having good fun laughing all around you hmmm having such a good time such telling jokes and laughing its sucha cool time enjoy or go to a german pub

  • @bernhearted There from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

  • i think that beats the originial.

  • Nah... you cannot take it away from the original THEM. Sorry.

  • as close to the perfect rock and roll song as have heard in a while

  • Love, love, LOVE this cover! :)

  • Them and Van Morrison did this song in the 60s this is the best version by far rock on in Canada, eh!

  • @camlpg Not all Canadiens say eh! Its like saying all Americans scream CHEESE BURGER!

  • You definitely hear the influence of George Harrison in this version of the song, particularly with the guitar solo circa 2:04.

  • I saw these guys a few times when I lived in Winnipeg Manitoba.. awesome band for sure

  • glad to hear kenny on 92citi this morning in wpg, this guy has made some great songs, totally relate to this one

  • Love Kenny shields.... my home boy... Regina has turned out some great rockers !

  • Kenny Shields you rreally rock!!!! Great voice!

  • such a sad song when one is trying to get over and still in love with an old boyfriend/old girlfriend:( :((

  • Good ol' Regina band...

  • Spider is the best

  • i remember waking up one morning tired and sleepy and my alarm clock is blaring this song and i cant help but smile and sing along

  • This cover is cool but the most exiting version of this song is on Bowie Pinups.

  • That's one of the finest album covers I've seen. Yup.

  • i doubt they heard that in brazil, but i bet they heard about montreal raping those roughriders.

  • i know the keyboardest, and he could become my father in law!! I love this song!!!!!!!!!!

  • whoa here it come!

  • nothing better than the classics

  • My bro played this loud in his 75 monte carlo lol back when rock was fun

  • I always loved this song ever since about 20 years ago !

  • For years I was confused because there is a song by Nick Gilder that is also called "Here Comes the Night" that is similar in some ways. I would hear this on the radio and I would think... "there that settles it it is Streetheart" the like a month later I would hear the Nick Gilder one and I would think "WHAT?! I was sure this was Streetheart" anyways they are both good songs. Go Saskatchewan.

  • No offence dude, but how in f--k could you confuse Nick Gilder's tune with anything written by the great Mitch Ryder? In case you didn't hear down in Brazil, the Saskatchewan Roughriders finished 1st in the CFL West in 2009. 1st time since 1976!!!!

    GO RIDERS!!! :)

  • Thanks for that insightful comment.

  • Further to last weeks' comment, The Riders play the Als for the Grey Cup, Sunday November 29/2009...GO RIDERS!!!

  • I think that you will find that this song was written by Bert Berns . Three great covers exist...Them (with Van Morrison), David Bowie and Streetheart's. But with a song this good it is almost impossible to make a bad version.

  • Dude, you are quite right!!! For some reason I always thought this was a Mitch Ryder tune. Thanks for the correction!

  • The singer here is Kenny Sheilds...why do people always say it is Gilder?

  • Maybe because they both have high-pitched voices? I think Nick Gilder pre-dated Streetheart. Always found Nick's tunes to be effeminate and bubble gum. Streetheart is far more "ballsy". Never in a million years have I confused Nick with Kenny. Interesting phenomenon!

  • Gilder was in Sweeney Todd, right? When I was a kid, I heard "Roxy Roller" and well you can imagine how surprised I was when, years later, I discovered that sexy voice belonged to a man! Still like the song, though.

  • Yep, 10-4 on Sweeney Todd. "Roxy Roller" and "Hot Child in the City". Pretty lightweight stuff, but if a person was not as old as us, and heard Streetheart first, I can see where they might confuse Nick and Kenny! :D

  • @ALTDOK I think because his vocals in this song are soo similar to Gilders "hot child in the city"

  • @ALTDOK yeah you'd think they'd figure it out with the Streetheart album cover....Kenny IS Streetheart, always has been, known him my entire life, he grew up with my mom.

  • @ALTDOK Nick Gilder does a version of this song and they do have similar vocals and styles I love them both :)

  • this vid rocks!!

  • Thanks for posting this..great audio quality here. Love this cover of the great Mitch Ryder tune. I love these guys as much as I love the Saskatchewan Roughriders!!! Rock on SASKATCHEWAN!!!

  • I agree, but why, why can´t anyone post a vid with THEM an Van the man. Still- Streethearts version is the next best and David Bowie comes third.

  • Best version of this song is by THEM

  • Dad brought me up on this band... saw them this past weekend... man they are amazing live... sound just like they did off their cd back in 79

  • 30 years ago my girlfriend turned me on to these guys, I was in the AF in Plattsburgh, NY and we hitchhiked to Montreal to see them. I was crazy in love with her and haven't seen her in 30 years, boy does this take me back!!!

  • That's what good music does. Cool story.

  • @waytallwhitey ..perhaps when she hears this song playing ..she thinks of you too.

  • @waytallwhitey I'm typing this from the other side of the North Country (Potsdam). I'd love for them to play in this neck of the woods. Long live Streetheart!

  • @waytallwhitey she is now with me. She always

laughed about you, she said, you had a micro

    endowment, so she moved on!

    You didn't have the 'goods'!

  • @waytallwhitey - What happened brother, why didn't u ever see her ever again ? Did she stay in Montreal. People say the Smoked Meat (Pastrami) is to die for up here.

  • @waytallwhitey that story is epic and awesome. good stuff

  • "Here Comes the Night" is a 1964 song, written by Bert Berns and originally recorded by Lulu & the Luvvers.[1]The band Them, whose lead singer was Van Morrison had a smash hit with it when their version was released in 1965.
