I've discovered this movie by accident, and I couldn't believe how underated this movie was, that deep psychology and tension keept me under shock for a while after whatching it ... Sam was brilliant ...
I heard that "Source Code " by Duncan Jones is too a really good movie im looking forward to this guy no movie had ever brought tears in my eyes like " Moon "
Hollywood doesn't like films that goes against the grain. If this film did some advertising today in Europe, it will do very good. The atmosphere, the acting, the music and story is a perfect balance. However, it's still a film that you only can watch once, and you kinda feel happy when it's over, because it was quite sad really :|.
Great commentary on the humor part. It's so subtle and so important. I had to watch it three times before my heart cracked, then it shattered... destroyed.
This movie is like my favorite kind of science fiction. No action in it whatsoever. But this is why this movie won't be as widely recognized as it should.
I really like how Duncan is so humble as to the way he always recognize Sam's help and collaboration in making the movie. He is definitely as far as he could be from being cocky or stuck up.
I thought it was highly overrated, personally. But I was impressed with the level of production value with the budget they had. It was definitely Rockwell's best performance.
I for one welcome the obscurity of 'Moon'. Let it stay down low. We'll only appreciate it more, in the years ahead, when it hasn't been over analyized and -god willing- remade.
5 MILLION DOLLAR MOVIE, TAKES 33 DAYS TO FILM, TOP MOVIE ON MY LIST!!NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALLED A MOVIE!!!! SMART BUDGETING, SMART STORYLINE.
movies these days are too focused on visual effects and their storylines are crap. they no longer know how to manupilate audience's emotion anymore. unlike moon, decent visual, and a outstanding storyline.
the oscar are dumbasses, i bet they only watch films with high budgets. they dont know what theyre missing out.
Please search for this movie on Facebook. I created a page on facebook because I liked this movie so much that I decided it's time to make it more popular because it didn't win a fucking oscar nomination, fucking sad. Sorry about swearing, I'm just pissed about today's society..
This was a wonderful film...Sam is an amazing actor and these guys were fucking robbed!!!It's disgraceful they didn't get the recognition they deserved!
They weren't clones, they were alternate versions of Sam Bell from other dimensions. That was the whole point of his mission on the moon, multiverse research.
@johnnythunders78 I'm guessing you're joking... But, if not, you're wrong. He's there for 3 years to mine Helium-3 and send it back to Earth as a clean alternative energy source. He isn't an alternate Sam, he's a clone. That's why they bring up clones so many times, and why they also go down into "The nursery" and find all the clones. The reason the contract is only 3 years long is because that's how long clones last. If you don't believe me, then look it up on Wikipedia, or some other place.
But also.. i must to say: nothing of that would happen, or worked in way or another, without the incredible soundtrack... Clint Mansell prooved his value one more time. For Sam Rockwell, I already knew what was to expect: great acting skills. But Duncan Jones, that guy I`ll start to watch closer. Well done, it`s a great movie. And duck the oscar, never believed them anyways.

It was an ok film. Too confusing and one dimensional. Too much of 2001 a space odessy. Not very original and a little boring. The ending is also rubbish....leaves you not knowing what happened.
i agree with many here that this is the best movie of 2009. but the oscars being what it is - a bunch of moth ball-scented, privileged old fogeys playing politics with studios that wine and dine them - will pass this over for politically-correct bullcrap. in what is essentially a one-person cautionary tale, sam rockwell makes it all look so easy. and kudos to the writers for giving us three-dimensional characters that require no frigging 3-D glasses to be believed. criminally under-rated.
too bad people would rather see a cliche Pocahontas/dances with wolfs ripoff, with predictable unoriginal characters and bloated overdone jungle setting than a movie that actually has a heart and soul.
I can't believe this didn't get nominated for a single oscar.
This is way better than Avatar. Yes the FX are brilliant but it left me cold emotionally. This film connects on that level. It just amazing they did it so cheaply and in such a short timsescale (33 days)
The statue in the background is like an oscar looking over Sam's shoulder, haha. Give the man one! Anyone who did not see this film yet, you should, every bit and piece has been brilliantly put together to make a very moving film.
Haha, brilliant. Duncan's father is English, and mother is American, and you can definitely hear the exact duality between the two accents flawlessly..
There's something wrong either way. I hope they do win though. Moon is a great film. And it demonstrates an ability on Duncan's part to overview some conceptual dilemmas related to the self and self-othering without looking like a philosophically ignorant amateur. Looking forward to the sequel.
Sam Rockwell , Owen Wilson , Julian McMahon . Hugh Jackman , Eric Bana ,
Brendan Fraser , Josh Brolin , James Caviezel , Casper Van Dien , Aaron Eckhart , Anthony Michael Hall , Edward Burns , Julian McMahon , Michael Vartan , Patrick Muldoon , Aidan Gillen , Kyle Eastwood , Tony Hawk , Kurt Angle , Timothy Olyphant all these amazing & wonderful stars are in the age ABOUT 46 so I wonder how they can be so active & so attractive persons ( physically ) in this old age ?? any answer PLEASE
@Schmidteren They didn't even get nominated? Then then "system" is corrupt. Getting an Oscar should be decided by the people. After all it's us who pay to see the film.
Young "Joe" was in Berlin with his dad and Iggy Pop during those years. He is excited to get back to film his new film, MUTE. Sam will have a cameo part.

I think it's great that Duncan Jones has selected a name to distance himself from his father's professional career. From the clips of this film, it appears that he is certainly talented and does not need to ride on anyone's coat-tails.
I agree completely. His father didn't pay for it. Sony and Sting's wife, Trudy, and another corporation are listed as the people that provided the funding. He has directed music videos and commercials for years in London and has a film degree from the US.
