  • Another thing: The M3 looks greater than the M100, which is because of the rocker switches and the round border of the keyboard... but the M100 has the nice Scanner Vibrato which creates a really nice vibrato/chorus sound. When I had my M100, I first thought the Vibrato/Chorus settings are only for Klaus Wunderliche style, but actually, it's awfully sounding when you use it e.g. with a Leslie - just try this out.

  • With your enthusiasm, I'm with you (really!! ;-)) BUT: even if that sounds really great, that doesn't mean it's the best choice for that price range. I don't know how much you paid for the Motion Sound Amplifier, but here in GER it costs between 900-1000 euro which is about 1250 dollar. For the same price, you can get a real leslie 122/147 or at least a 760/770 + tube-preamplifier, and you have not only a amplifier like the MS but also a SPEAKER! I'd say the MS is not the best choice.

  • @IIIVIIIIVIII Yeah, I agree. Motion Sound speakers are not cheap. You can definitely get a real Leslie for that price.

  • I'm picking up my M3 today!!! I'm really excited. Can you please send the specs for your conversion to a Leslie/Speaker etc. you can email me @ bucketboy13@yahoo.com. It was kool to see the Grubb Bros sticker on your M3. I worked at the AC Guitar Center and played in several churches in the area. Thanks!!!

  • how can i put more drawbars at M3? I love the B3 because it has a lot of drawbars...

  • I bought mine at a Goodwill store here in Madison, Wi, !!! $99.00 Sold it to keep my apt.in '95..... BUMMER!!

  • Great overview vid, man! Thanks.

  • I'd like to hear you play James Gang: Tend My Garden

  • i got mine at a salvation army for 20 bucks!!!

  • I picked up one of these for free as well! Needed a little oil to get going, and still could use a re-tubing. Now I just need to find a Leslie!

  • Just got an M3 and Leslie. Loving it!

    Thanks for your helpful overview.

  • I just picked up one of these off craigslist for free. I'm a guitarist and don't know a thing about it, but man it's so cool!

  • Hey dude, great video. I just bought one for $100 bucks on craigslist. Very well kept and I am very happy with it. Is there a way you can post a video taking us through the steps of how to modify the organ so you can connected to a speaker or a leslie speaker through a 1/4 inch jack. Thankz dude, and keep up the good work.

  • my brother just got one of these.. he has an xk3, but is pretty excited about this one..

  • Hopefully I will be getting my own tomorrow afternoon. I'm so excited after watching videos of happy people playing theirs! Great video, by the by!

  • Rule of thumb if you live in a major city and want an M3- look on Craigslist for 14 days 3 times a day. You WILL get 1 for less than $200. The fact is that Hammond M3 organs were the most abundant organ of all time. They don't break down by sitting, BUT when moving lock down the tone generator ( like an old record player it suspends the moving mechanical parts from resonance that can get amplified by the ultra sensitive pick-ups).

M3 trick: Leslie sound put vib/chorus and Hi/Low sw. in middle.

  • hey dude! great vid, love it!

got a question though, is the leslie come with the M3? I'm plannin to buy it from some guy in craiglist, but not sure what kind of speaker is in there, since the guy selling doesn't know much abt organ.

    thanks in advance!

  • This may be a dumb question, but can the Motion Sound handle a distortion pedal. I been looking for an organ with this kind of sound, but I plan on having it hooked up to a distortion pedal most of the time.

  • So, the Hammond M3 does NOT have a spinning speaker inside of it?

  • great vid- sweet organ! Just a few mistakes - if you allow me to correct: the percussion is meant to be a marimba-like attack. 2nd is NOT a major second, but the second partial = an octave higher. 3rd is the third partial and an octave and a fifth higher, the latter sounds edgier and is crucial part of the typical Jimmy Smith/Joey DeFrancesco jazz Hammond sound.

Yep, the M3 is closest to the B3. The great Intro of Boston's "Forplay-Long Time" was played by Tom Scholz on a hot rodded M3.

  • Hey man I got my M3 for a hundred bucks, one owner, besides me of course. But I fashioned my own little taper box as well like you did. Mine was just thrown together. Would like to see if I could make some improvemnts on mine from looking at your design possibly.

  • I found a m2 on the side of the road

  • please sell me ur MSP3!

  • Billy Preston played a Hammond M102 in the Beatles records, even though he did played B3 when going solo.

  • great vid! beautiful M3

  • i got mine for 50 bux i love it spent 1 year looking for m3

  • Very Cool, I did not know about the M3

  • Really cool video, waiting for more!

  • So this Hammond DOES have an internal speaker, so hooking it up so some sort of speakers is an option??

  • @blamethedogs

No, just the internal speaker. You could modify it, but there is no "line out" from the organ.

...I think is what he said?

  • Hey man! Could you please do a video for low price recording studio for my band? It doesn't have to be portable either. Fine with portable or unportable, just low price, like 100 oe 150 bucks. MAYBE 200 bucks. Thatd be great coming from a master like you. Drums, electric guitar, bass, and singer. Itd just be great man, thanks!

  • That is a totally cool piece of history. I remember playing with the Hammond at my parents house when I was a kid. Wish I still had it. I don't remember which one it was, but it had a little cassette player on it for "lessons" ... (stupid thing never worked)

  • finally your back!

  • nice man. thanks for uploading
