  • was there in the early 70's, knew some joining the communists, some become part of the govt, many ending in diverse occupations. many of brightest end up there; still surprised when history showed communism does not work, CPP/NPA is still very active; corruption is still rampant in the govt; muslim south remains stuck in the 60's. miss the Philippines though

  • Every University has an academic which it is good at. For example UP is known for having excellent professors in political science, governance, and law. Ateneo on the other hand is excellent in Business and economics. Oxford University is known for literature. MIT is known for mathematics, and science.

  • Just a minor correction: Harvard is NOT in Boston but in Cambridge, MA. But you were right in saying that UP Diliman was patterned after that Cambridge school, Harvard. :)

  • I spent a year there back in 1976, it was a lot of fun and the people were wonderful. Only Typhoon Didang was a bummer, but I wish the best for all the students and people of the Philippines. Mag Bier Muna Tayo!
