I was around 12 when the rubiks cube first came out. I remember playing around with it so much that I got frustrated with it, and finally gave up.

Amazing how someone so young can do it in so little amount of time, when most people even adults couldn't figure it out back when they first became popular . I would be willing to bet many adults even today wouldn't be able to do the rubiks cube, I know I still wouldn't be able to.

thereotically for a 3x3 cube where order does matter (in rubic's cube) there are 729! possible combinations, but since rubic's cube has the corner and side sides joined with other size there are actually much less... too long let's just go on wiki...
