  • I have read the negative comments on this video and find it surprising that there is so much judgment. Looking at this video helps me find inspiration for my own practice through seeing the work of someone whose practice is more advanced than mine. It gives me something to aspire to AND helps me see the postures done correctly so that I can continue working on them myself. I am grateful for this video because it is a learning tool. Thank you for posting this!

  • hope you like my SwáShtya Yôga Videos!!

  • Great performance, but I have some suggestions. As you know, Shiva created Yôga 5000 years ago, and he was a dancer (natarája = dancer's king). I thing your movements between the ásana's should be more careful, like a real dancer. And I think that the natasíra padaprasaranásana is more beautiful with the other leg up, just like you did on rája natarájásana. Your last ásana (úrdhwa kákásana) is great!

    Improve your movements!

    Best regards!

  • Beautiful. Your asana practice looks like art.

  • Yoga has nothing to do with competition.

    I feel sorry for you.

I hope you'll understand it someday,

    all the best

  • yoga also has nothing to do with judgement i hope tou can understand that someday. I did this ti inspire my students as a demonstration of stillness, focus, and breath witch are the principles to the performance of asana.they've been having asana championships for hundreds of years in india. whats interesting to me is how little people know about the history of yoga in the west. so don't feel sorry for me there are real issues in the world to be concerned about. PEACE!

  • Christian, I whole heartedly agree with you, and as a bikram teacher (Fall05) and aspiring champion myself, I know how much (as Craig would say) "blood, sweat and tears" went into one's practice and how championship is, in this case, synonimous with inspiration. Have the best day ever!

  • of course it does. don't be ignorant, in many countries there is yoga as a sport actually.

  • I really like your performance. Great, music too

    all the best

  • huau! hot yoga, cold yoga, fitness yoga, and now comptition yoga!!!?? Does someone realise that yoga is a non competitive practice in essence? this is Egocentric Gimnastic, and some show off for teachers to get students and feed their ego, not yoga!

  • This is great - thanks for sharing this. I've been going for almost a year and literally miracles have happened within my body and life. (PS I also like your "yoga clap" video, hilarious!)

  • isn't copmetition antithetical to the purpose of yoga? Ego centric as opposed to non-dual being centric, no? Not that I don't enjoy seeing beautiful physical and mental mastery being displayed.

  • to be more specific this is an asana competition so the focus is on the performace of the posture (i.e. form, stillness, and the difficulty of the pose). this tradition started in India hundreds of years ago as a way to get young people interested. I can't speak for others ,but for me it was an opportunity to improve my postures , focus, and hopefully inspire others to practice.

  • Scintillating poise and powerful focus brother, just like your class. keep kicking my ass and i'll return the favor. peace

  • Yoga is not about how perfect your postures are or how great you flow is. It is about your own mental strength and awareness. Anyone who participates in a compettion has a tremendous amount of courage.

  • Love your class on the Lower East Side. Imo this video was amazing, and the music was great. Thanks for doing what you do.

  • Well I thought the poses were beautiful and the song as well. When I watched this it gave me motivation to keep working hard at my practice and reach my own personal goals.

  • Um...ok.

  • isnt it interesting how easy it is to give negative feedback on peoples expression. we never know what people have been through in their lives and maybe this was an accoplishment.

  • discualpa, no se si sabes español, pero quisiera saber que lugar saco este chico, soy de Chile, aqui practicamos mucho Bikram yoga, en mi estudio somos 350, eso es arto. Saludos

  • nice but not flowing enough and nothing special to be here .....

  • the music is totally mismatched for this yoga posing sequence...poor choice

  • actually the music is performed by the yogi and the lyrics are based on elements from the bikram yoga practice both bikram and craig valani say "dont let the dog walk you, you walk the dog!" I guess you better get into one of their classes my friend ! love, trueboy

  • anyone recognize the music?

  • NICE!!!!

  • miss your class at flatiron!
