I have a 57' Century with the same light fixtures and white porcelain heater unit inside the door. I'd love to find out how to get copies of the brochure for the heater that Bob found in the drawer for the 58 Mallard.
Picking up a 58 Mallard tommorrow. Exactly like the video. Am so excited. Too bad winter in WI is just around the corner making resto a bit of a challenge. Will go nice with my 65 Trailblazer
Yup that is a good find..I think I heard you say that you might be replacing the back siding with aluminum...I don't think steel and aluminum get along together...I'm not sure but I think one eats the other...Something you might want to look into.....And it looked to me that tabby wants you to own it...
Bob said he is going to use steel to keep it original... So much for the aluminum idea. You might be right about the different metals not liking each other as well.
Old trailers are becoming rarer at an alarming rate due to the economy and people who are scrapping them for the money. They have no idea what they are doing! They may get $100 for all thier effort taking it apart and it could have been worth thousands if they just cleaned it up. The newer trailers suck and will not last more than 5 years before they start falling apart so they will never become "vintage".
That looks like a real treasure! Unbelievable how *new* the interior looks. Did anyone even use it? It almost looks like it sat in a garage all its life with just the ass end sticking out in the rain.
Details like 50 year old original documentation are just mind blowing...
Actually it shows a lot of use. Just not on the wood or counter tops. The floor covering is pretty worn and the underside has seen a lot of miles... They just knew how to keep it looking good.
That thing is in great shape! How's the undercarriage, the wheels and axel and toe assembly? Also what would something like that cost to purchase from the current owner even damaged as it is?
Tabby's always ready to go. How ya doing Freq? Long time no see. We are going to be doing Christmas in Ballarat this year. In case you need somewhere to go for the holitday.. :)
What a neat trailer and its in such great shape. I think I heard your friend mention that all the books are still with it-someone loved that little trailer, that's for sure. So much storage, too.
I'm going to have to start saving up because it would be great to have a fine trailer like that, since tenting it every time is getting old, now that I'm getting old, too. ; )
If you want to buy a vintage trailer that has been restored I have a few you might be interested in.... You could pick it up here and party in it all the way back home. Or leave it in Kentucky...
I might take you up on that! I love the looks of the vintage trailers. I don't think I will be looking hard until next summer but I will let you know. BTW how long of a drive are you from 43613 and 40939??

@Dacisu89 Oh did we find the manual for that heater in the mallard? Dang it's been a while. I'll see if they still have it.
mobiltec 1 month ago
@Dacisu89 Cindy said that I could come over and take it to a place that makes copies
and make a copy of it... Going to take some time and gas to do so. I will
have to get to it as it becomes convenient.

Do you have any videos on repairing the old galvanized steel screening in the trailers? I just bought a 1955 Comet. Thanks

I just replace it with aluminum. Home Depot has it.

Wow! And it looks Tabby-approved, too! Damn, I need to get me a trailer as soon as I can buy 10 acres or so at a tax auction--- which may be never.

NotSoOldHippy 2 years ago
