erm, i think all of you guys have to relax, WTF is just a sport type of martial art, no one would be so stupid to drop his/her hands during a fight and just use kicks and stay away frm punches, well at least now they allow punches to the body, so just stop arguing whether WTF or ITF is better, in my opinion both are just as good

A great demo by Senior Master Chon Dae Yong! He was the team captain of the Dprk demo team during this demo. Gen. Choi mention him in his memoirs. The bandae dollyo chagi is amazing, and his hand smashing techniqes are powerful! Inspiratinonal! I dont now why you argue about Gen Choi. He created a art that millions of people find interesting and i think If you really study Taekwon-Do you will find a way to live your life in harmony. I think he should be considered as a martial rtist!

@josteinespe choi didnt create anything,i can assure you,the techs were all from earlier kwans and the bullshit shotokan he had a black belt in.Other masters like nam tae hee had more influence on technical developement than the general.I do admire his commitment and leadership though even if what he taught was rubbish.

WTF and ITF have both came from the same great man yet you peg one better then they other, in todays application WTF is more for tornaments its hard to find a traditional ITF school in them... What everyone is misunderstanding is that no martial art is superior. An art is only as good as the practitioner who does the art. To simply state that one art is better ''because we do this and you don't'' (or similar 'justifications') is naive and does nothing but demonstrate how naive these so-called thinkers are.

nope that aint true,the attitude and ability of the individual is the most important but if youre system doesnt practise full contact standing,throws and ground youre no a complete fighter.Tkd does none of those things so it clearly lacks a great deal.

ITF tkd and WTF tkd are very different. They are not even close in terms of technical similarity or tactics.

ITF tkd was founded in 1955 and WTF tkd was founded in 1974. Gen Choi invented tkd and created ITF, he never did WTF tkd and considered WTF tkd to be an inferior, bastardized imitation of true TKD. You practice WTF, I practice ITF, there is no common ground for us technically speaking. I don't understand why so many WTF persons think they are practicing the same things as ITF persons

For example I practice in a dojang wich is federated with WTF and is a MOO DUK KWAN school, coming from Tang Soo Do and Traditional Taekwondo.

It is a disgrace that practicioners puts such hate and propaganda in their statements...

are you retarded,gen choi didnt even consider wtf to be taekwondo.He was from what is now south korea but there was only1 korea when he was born.He and the south korean government were in total opposition.He wasnt anything great as a martial artist,just a 2nd dan in shotokan who made up a few crumby patterns.He was a great leader tahts all.

what u mean by i dont think so? lol...wtf using 90% round house kick all the time just to get point...5% using punching...the reason i said itf far more better is bacause the fighting stlye resembles like karate and kick boxing...which mean they are usefull in any condition like self defense...thats how General Choi created taekwondo...if u compare wtf to street fighters or any martial arts,u will pinned with their punches...
