What a fabulous work ! Ray Harryhausen would be glad to see that in 2011 (or 2009…) the animation with puppets is still a masterwork, and has not fallen in the darkness, as digital effects could have let imagine !
it surprises me that a lot of the women make the stuff like the lady who makes the hair is a woman the person who makes the clothes is a woman and the person who does the scelington thing is a woman

okay in the thing tim burton was who gave him the I de the guy sadi o thats cool I want to make something like that because the night mare befor xmas it say in one of the thinga mijigers
My favorite piece of animation is the cat waking up coraline. The way the little paw gently rubs her nose--what a great scene. Excellent work Jeanne!!!
Well, it's not right to say that Tim Burton didn't have anything to do with Coraline. You could see some parts of the movie that was influenced by him. And in that way he helped to make this movie.
Nope. Sorry. If you listen to the commentary or watch the extras Selick says that the backgrounds, design of the characters, etc. were all inspired by the Japanese illustrator, Tadahiro Uesugi. Burton had nothing to do with this movie.
Nope sorry right back at ya. Selick was working for Burton a while ago and you can CLEARLY see the bits that was influenced by him. Even tho he doesn't mention it in the extras you don't know if Tim Burton had anything to do with it.
You mean they were working together. Burton and Selick co-wrote the movies that they made together. And even though Tim was largely responsible for the visuals, Selick was the one who brought it to life.
Wow, Just looking at the finished product- such realistic movement! I guess the mechanics underneath would help- just look at the old kind of claymation (Like rudolph the red nosed reindeer, for instance)! They only had wires to go underneath the characters, and here they have joints and all sorts of things!
Even the behind the scenes videos are creepy! I love learning about this amazing film and all the creativity and craft involved in bringing it to life.
This person interests me. I love the way she talks about gruesome subjects with that cat right on her lap. "I've probably ripped off.... over a hundred cat heads".

i feel bad for her cat! bc you know one day Jeanne McIvor is gonna snap and amd start cutting the cats leggs off and putting fake ones on it then shes gonna chop off its head!!!! but that would make one awesome pupet!!
press 6 while playing the video to see the cat's leg get pulled off
