@benchod94 We looked at buying a Ghia X 1.8TD with full leather seats and a towbar. As nice condition as it was you can't deny that it was utter garbage, no quality whatsoever, parcel shelf wouldn't shut up rattling its like a bigger Escort, I couldn't get over the badly proportioned cabin. rear seats are too high and your heads against the roof! We were about to sell an Audi A4 1.9 for it. If you have got an Audi A4, don't swap it for a Mondeo... Never not even a Ghia X... lesson learned lol

It's a tough job, check out the tanks a lot website and give them a call if you want to come and work with us. Based in Northants near Silverstone. Cars are cheap and the clients who crush them pay for them so it costs us nothing. And frankly I don't care if the cars work or not. As for the blue fluid it is most likely windscreen wash.

Actually it's not that dumb. If you go all the way over there is the potential that the car will be thrown back over the tank and crush anybody on the tank or the driver. It has happened.

Would love to but if you leave the battery in the engine compartment when the hood comes down on it it shorts it out causing it to heat up and catch fire, then if there is any fule left in the petrol tank you blow up the car and hurt the people sitting on the tank. I guess we could start it and then remove the battery.

I had no idea that the Ford Contour/Mercury Mystique was sold overseas with a different name. Did that car actually sell well in Europe? I read a bunch of comments of people saying what a good car it is and I'm somewhat surprised. In the US, they are kind of looked at as "rental cars."

That's cool. The European market probably had all kinds of engine choices and diesels to chose from though. We rarely get diesels here. :( I would love to see some of Peugeot's, Citroën's, or Renault's cars come to America, but they tried before and failed miserably. It's really a shame that people here completely overlook small cars as practical options, when they really are quite functional.

Mondeo has always been one of the most popular cars in EU. Mostly because of reliable engine and one of the best (if not the best?) undercarriages of its class. No wonder they used it in other cars as well (such as Jaguar X-Type).
