I agree that speaking and writing is way different for most people. However, some people actually speak very familiar to the writing in some part of the country. I also feel that the way people talk may relate to their work, education, and demography. Interestingly, I think people in this movie can talk more natural than I do. I think all my words are closer to the writing than most people use in daily life.
I really love this movie. Great acting and directing, with a really good storyline. However, I have to agree with Angkorpisey on the speech and intonation of the actors/actresses.
The way they talk sounds like they are reading directly from the script. Khmer speaking is indeed quite different from Khmer writing.
Also, I feel some sentences are translated word-by-word from the English script. E.g. at 4: 36, or 4:41, 4:42, or 4: 43.
Hi with my respect to angkorpisey !!I just want to share my opinion with everyone here. I read through all SSW script (96 pages) most 95% are matching the story and also Khmer word that being used here its sound really polite .Thank you
Hi Jasonkeang, I don't mean the SSW script is impolite. It's very correct in writing but some sound strange in speaking. And I note that actors have some problem with their intonation because it doesn't sound natural (I mean some not all).
However, KMF is the first and the best who makes khmer movie but I just wish they would do it better. Thank!
Hi, as I told you in my message that I just don't agree about some phrases/speeches which seem strange to me (all of my friends think so).
Actually the khmer speaking is different from khmer writing. Some words we use in writing but we don't say it out. Khmer people like to express their emotion their reaction with different intonation. That is why I would like actors and your team to pay more attention

Hello, Matthew here, executive producer
Thank you for your feeback which we always welcome.
However, feedback is usless unless it's specific.
Please give us some examples of bad accents or wrong intonations.
Then we can do something about them in the movie we are currently shooting.
Thank you again.

That is why I would like actors and your team to pay more attention
for example 2:55 2:59
4:37 her phrase is so long and we never say like this(sauf in novel)
angkorpisey 3 years ago
4:43: it so strange what the father say. It's not khmer poeple usually say
5:48 The word NEAN mean she/her is use only in writing (in Novel for example) It's not sound familiar to say it
6:24 he could finish his phrase in another way because it doesn't sound funny at all
8:00 We never get confuse with two things different. I understand what he mean when I read subtitle but it's mean another thing what he talk
It's just my own idea and hope you don't mind
However I always support your team.

at 8:00,
You would be confused if you bought one wife one thing and another wife a different thing.
Hey hunny I like the thing you bought me, thing? (oh my god what did i buy her)
