The most popular ones are probably the "Hauppauge HD PVR" or the "Black Magic Intensity Pro".
I haven't looked into it much because frankly their out of my price range for some occasional youtube vids, so you should definitely have a look around incase theres a better one I haven't heard of.
For this video I just plugged it straight in. But when I have to play at the same time (like if im recording Gears 2) then i use cables and splitters so I can see it on my tv as well as recording on my pc
This was done with the EasyCAP version 3.1b (also called EasyCAP DC60+). The version 2.0 doesn't support PAL 60 so if you live in Europe then you wont be able to record any halo or call or duty games with it.
You don't NEED any splitters, there is no screen lag so you can play straight off the computer. I prefer to play on my TV whilst recording which you can do with a setup like this:
the tv doesn't make a difference as the signal goes straight from your reciever (source) to the easycap. However if you want to capture a coaxial input then you will need a "coaxial to composite" converter or a tv that can accept a coaxial input and composite(or svideo) output.
i dont think it can.. you plug the easy cap into the back of the tv... most plug ins in the back is for av composite 1 or 2 or video 1 or 2 not on screen tv i think so i dont think it can it might though
easy cap quality is better than i thought!

i have my xbox and ps3 in a hd tv, what easycap do i need? and how do i connect it?
entoxicado666 2 years ago
For the PS3 I'm pretty sure any version will work, but for the 360 you need a DC60+ (v3.1b) to record most games

@halo2untoldlegends and can i record in hd defenition?
entoxicado666 2 years ago
no easycap only records upto 720x480 for NTSC/PAL60 or 720x576 for PAL50.
HD capture cards cost upwards of £150.

Did you make the mistake of buying the wrong one, thats what i did but im selling my EasyCAP DC60 and buying a EasyCAP DC60+.
xBILLYWIZZx 2 years ago
yea, when I first bought one I didn't know that you needed the DC60+ to record PAL 60 so I just got the cheaper one lol.
halo2untoldlegends 2 years ago
is being able to record PAL 60 the only difference between DC60 and DC60+?
nBTBcSharb8 2 years ago
yes, its the only difference, but its very important if you like in a PAL region
halo2untoldlegends 2 years ago
alright thanks.. i live in the US so PAL isnt for me... i bought a DC60 last week and im using it now... =]
nBTBcSharb8 2 years ago
@halo2untoldlegends Actually the dc60+ is meant to work for vist 64bit and win 7, along with more fixes for bugs!!

where can i get the correct splitters online?
illyillyill 2 years ago
It depends where you live, just use a store you trust and look for splitters with 2 Female ends and 1 Male end. They should be about £3 each.

Can an easycap record live tv, like the news?
AstroPirateKid 3 years ago
yea it can record anything that will output s-video or composite video (yellow, red and white leads)
halo2untoldlegends 3 years ago
Does it work on old TV's?
