  • You tell 'em! How I hate dichotomous racial attitudes, and especially that racial progress consists of nothing more than elevating "black America" to some sort of perceived equality with "white America."

  • i have a special appreciation for this kind of invisibility that you describe bc i'm trans and get lost in the wo/man binary. this video is really well done, nice job. i recognized someone in it, too, from a recent party- the indian woman, she was performing her material to guitar and dancing.

  • AWESOME!

  • That is something REAL! Thank you.

  • what song is that at the end?

  • i hear you, girl!

  • One of my favs of yours.

  • haha girl this is creative but the reason why they dont say yellow and skip right to all the weird colors is that yellow is loaded with a derogatory history. not that black isnt but weve more or less (as black people) accepted the denomination.

You are actually one of the few asians I have ever heard that are ok to be called yellow.

regardless, being called whatever may even be worse, but perhaps we're putting too much weight on specificity.

  • yellow!

  • I have a lot of love for this woman. That was brilliant.

  • Beautiful! Inspiring!

  • well written, well delivered. Can't wait to see more.

  • this is great.

  • PREACH IT! :D

  • so dope. so smart. so deep. so true. so good.

  • tell it girl.

  • Nice video. I am both yellow and black. An asian (mom) african american (dad) mix with more yellow on the inside makes me who I am.

  • yess! and im not black i am brown!

  • damn she fine

  • nice one guys. Nice one Kelly..Hope to see you perform soon..in South Africa. Nice one Jazz..

  • true that!

  • Great video...It really added to the poem.

  • never thought of that...

  • Great message! Asian Americans are often invisible in the public eye so this is a brilliant way of bringing up the issue.

  • sucker for specificity! lol nice!!

  • you're awesome! everytime they say that it kinda feels like we're not important enough to be mentioned specifically, so we go under the category of whatever. haha. love!!

  • you're awesome! Everytime they say it kinda feels like we're not important enough for them to mention us specifically, so they categorize us as whatever. Some poeple might say that that expression is used a lot, because black and white can be seen as two ending points and all other colors are in between, but when it comes to humans, it shouldn't be like that. Love!!!

  • awesome...GREAT point.

  • totally agree with you.

  • she's good. but, Asian is a nation?

  • Love it....

  • I can dig it.

  • I like her sprite

  • this is amazing.

  • whats the name of the song at the end?

  • Proud to be a Canadian !

  • I am the SilVer French -mOrOccAn OrigIns- peOple•••••••••••••••IT'S A GREAT THING•••••••••••••

  • I loved this! GREAT!

  • May I ask a question: Have you,Miss Tsai, Taiwanese or Hongkong origin?

    Thanks.

  • so agree dont whatever us THE PEOPLE~!

  • yall reckon we can all get along?

  • Label are non beneficial to any race.

"African American" - Never been to Africa, was born in the US

"blacks" -people that come in all different shades..from who look nearly white (ex:Mariah Carey) to dark (ex:Flavor Flav)Why do we need labels?

I think we need to ban any labels in the country. We all need to be referred to as simply Americans...and please stop saying black, white, or whatever that's offensive and definitely saying purple, blue, or green is extremely over the top. One Love.

  • I am a "African American" although I do not like this term since I have never been to Africa and was born in the "United States".I think we all should be called just plain Americans. Plain and simple. We are referred to as "black", although this is misleading since others "blacks" like myself are tan/brown skinned people."Blacks/African Americans" come in different shades, and this is the case for most "ethnic minorities."Can anyone say stereotypes?Let's do away with labels we are all Americans.

  • Good Job

  • I've felt this way for years!!!!

  • Your a really brilliant speaker. Totally agree with you. The racial thing going on about the election was really annoying. White or Black.

Those aren't the only "colors" or so you said.

Yet society tries to simplify it too just those two.

  • I like your video. "I'm here. I'm voting. And believe me, this girl is yellow!" Red yellow black and white. Purple green and blue too. Melanin is what makes us all beautiful.

  • I agree

  • fascinating

  • That was dope Kelly! I can't wait to see you again sometime...my yellow leader!

    UIUC Posse 1

    The Engineer

(felt like i shouldn't reveal my identity to you tube b/c the Fed may be watching, lol)

  • why do we have to see each other in a racial tone? why cant i just be A Man instead of a white man? the way the world works right now is unequal, men and women are not treated equally as they should be, we can not let this nonsense propogate any longer forget about race forget about sex forget about the past, the past was only relevent when it was the present. let go, the tongues of dieing men inforce a tension like deep harmony, where words are spent they are seldom spent in-vain

  • no matter what race someone is their still just a human being, we have a brain, a heart, a tongue, the way the person becomes later in life is up to how they were raised, and certain DNA traits passed on from parent to child, basically we are all the same, judging off of race is like looking at the front of a book that you've been told is excellent and suits your taste and then saying "well i dont think its for me"

  • "Everbody is screaming racism. Black people are screaming Racism. White people are screaming reverse-racism. Chinese people are screaming sideways-racism. The indians aren't screaming shit, cause they dead!" - Chris Rock

  • Well Put!...I'm not really into the color thing. I'm Pacific Islander(American Samoa): I guess that makes me brown?(what can brown do for u--S.A.)-Psyh-do I feel ignored in this country?...uh-um, don't really pay any attention to it. The black and white thing is nothing un-usual in our society, it just goes' with the territory. I liked to think that everybody is regon'd...like you said-"WHATEVER"

  • Great vid^^

  • Kelly i love you. and polotics should be allways be about content and not color!

    cheers the german!

  • Awsome!!!

Kelly, why dont you write a book about that?!

about racial discrimination in America or in some Countries... cuz I think that would really affect others!

--- I am a Filipino , and proud to be one...

  • Now that's what's up! I'm brown, and I'm proud of it! TONGAN ISLANDS BABY! Very nice job. You guys did an incredible job!

  • I thought the point of the speech was it doesnt matter what color you are? Does a video such as this promote people being treated differently based on thier ethnicity?

  • Yeah! I Just want to be called northern European American. My skin is more translucent than white anyway.

  • Exactly!

  • For some reason this video makes me want to go get a beer.

  • And what about the ones who dont refer to thereselfes as 1 color but 2 or 3 or even 4?

  • I like it. Five stars.

  • I'm white, but on the inside I'm every color and race. This really moved me! :D

  • hell yeah. on all accounts.

  • thaxz

  • Very talented and hot..keep em comin!

  • u go girl

  • Yellow power!

  • so true

  • I'm still confused who the heck is actually the hue black and the actually hue white who ever made up the idea of race is a jackass.

If people in the world take a genetic class you find out that um mm where all a different shade of brown some lighter others and some are darker then others that's why light complected people can become a darker brown though tanning because there already a shade of brown

  • I liked that, great video!

  • you talk dat shit girl

    hell ya!

  • it's been a two year journey but I think I found some one on youtube with words worth listening to...

keep the words flowing into our ears...

  • I'm sorta tan myself... don't forget about us off-whities.

  • Good video, brought up a very good point(s) radically sexy! ;) This is as fair as I get.

  • This was needing to be said! Asia America is just as real as Africa America and Indian America.

Keep the flow going cause your turning heads

  • Here, Here, from a rep of the Black/White/Brown/Red constituency! Very well said, needed to be expressed and I am pleased to have witnessed it!

    Thank You

  • I am an African American but you are cool we are one under God and that what count most so keep up the good work.

  • I agree completely. Personally I feel this political thing has recieved a lot of attention for perhaps some of the wrong reasons Black & white are not the only two races that exist. Seeing as I'm from the UK and I can't vote just though I'd leave this comment.

  • song at the end?

  • Lil' Tooki by Taiyo Na. It's available on iTunes.

  • OMG!! I AM IN LIKE TOTAL, INESCAPABLE LOVE WITH YOU RIGHT NOW!!! it will last for the duration of the day lol...but seriously this was real talk at its finest. The NON-bitchassness so rarely experienced nowadays. So i thank you! Chi-town represent...ALL towns, represent.

  • In the common white world, the terms "black, white, blue, yellow, green, purple or whatever" are terms meaning "who give a shit about skin color?"

  • Thank you Kelly for putting into spoken word form what I have been bitching about to my friends (black, white, yellow, brown, er, whatever) for YEARS.

  • Real poeple.

  • I take this opportunity and ask everbody who is refused a job opportnity or admission to a club because of thier race or color, report and discuss it here ...

  • HAHA

  • Amen. sick of "whatever"... bring on the specificity.

  • cool shoes

  • ^Hell yea. I dont think anyone could have said it any better. :)

  • Aww- mega-fresh, girl! Wordem up!

  • I vote for you!

  • IM straight from Africa and have married a Black from America (she is what you call yellowbone) so i am well aware of what i speak about. Our kids look like they are half white. My comment is sarcasm. Main thing to get is they are grasping at straws. Like if we were having a argument, we both have valid points and you yell out.. Screw you muslim commie! Very mature of them. game, set, match barring a gwb style win for mcfail. They campaining against obama. No one is campaigning for mccain.

  • btw...Barack is hip to Asians...his half sister is Asian and he grew up in Honolulu.

  • I see you kelly !!!! wen r u coming back to depauw????? oo and check out my page hope you like

  • good point

  • Awesome video. I love specificity also!!

  • that was hip...

  • 0:14 Nice kicks.

    What kind?

  • Wow. Artistic and true.

  • well said signal i personally do not have to vote because im not american but i think obama will get in from what i have seen on tv, i hope he makes some positive changes and increases their relationship with the u.n. love the video must be a lot of asians in the usa

  • Submit A Poem For Barack Obama At DiggWhat(dot)Com!

  • i love you and love you for what you do. =D lol

  • Oh damn! u go yellow girl i love how u speak for the unspoken voices of whats called Asian-Americans. The Asian-american community do appreciate that and your poem was awesome! um.... America the awesome and the beautifuls!!!

  • those "corny speeches" are walking him into the white house. YES WE CAN!!!

  • Oh yeah, I mean, I'd vote for him if I were 18 and American. But you have to admit he's got a nice cheese-factor in his speeches. It's not a bad thing.

  • Don't h8t3, The video is off the hook! Political Poetry, I luv it.

  • okay..not a bad video....but im not sure i understand the full totallity of this video....is she talking about that main races that are being discussed in this election is black and white...and that the candidate arent talking too much about others?? im a little confused...

  • yeah basically. And that a lot of the other races are kinda being marginilized

  • But you left out that fact that the europeans colonized these african countries by taking it over, shoving their views down the natives throats, and turning neighbors against neighbors (Rwanda in the 90s) over stupid ideals. Funny though. 1 million africans get killed, nobody does nothing. 1000 white people die, the world is ready for war.

  • Just one question..I'm sure I can vouch for any white person when I say..Have you ever met a single black person that would or want or even consider voting for McCain? NO. Why? Because he is an old white men..black people walk around rocking obama tees and put his signs up but do they even really know his morals? his history? or that hes half white? NO. and they just know he appears black so he must be black so they're going to vote for him..and THAT my friend is racist.

  • Its just ashame that McCains ancestors were the people that set up the system of racism that we have today. As a black man, i have looked at Obama's record and history, you cant find anything thats appalling. Hes one of the cleanest politicians and highly educated. McCain can represent a maverick, but Obama represents the unity this nation has always needed throughout its history of existence. Im not voting for Obama because hes black, im voting for him for his intelligence and vision for the US

  • Oh wow...that was awesome. :D

    Very well done.

  • NICE

  • wow, this video was great and well edited!
