I like this entrance :) i am a CW skater but do the same thing before a waltz jump. I am still in the evry beginners but still - makes it a little more comfortable i think

Nice! What makes the axel so hard to do? I mean, which part(s) of it do most people find difficult? I know it's a one and a half rotation jump, but I've heard people say that they get the double jumps before they get the axel! Don't know if it's true though!

The forward outside edge takeoff is what makes it so difficult. All other jumps take off backward.

yes, it is very hard. i landed a clean double salchow months before i landed a clean axel. double salchow i land almost every time now, axel not so much. im finding double flip and double loop to be easier than axel. the forward take off kinda freaks me out i guess. it's all personal preference

Ugh, years! :) But I had some atypical setbacks along the way.

I guess it's the setbacks and years of effort that make it so much sweeter when we finally get that elusive move, but now you have the axel, it will always be with you. I'll be on the lookout for your double axel up next! :)
