  • I thin k it is a good idea to change out the rod on the 2022 because after 200 rounds, the plastic rod is nicked up real bad. It has been chewed up, unlike the glock rods which do hold up better. So, I replaced mine with the steel rod. from feezer.rods.net. I thing it will last longer and I am happy with the way she shoots.

  • My plastic one has a little nipple to keep it in a grove on the barrel. That one doesnt look like it has one. Does it?

  • @hefedehefe yes the 2022 steel guide rod has a nipple on it

  • Just picked up one for my P226...luv it! Keep it lightly oiled and it shouldn't make much noise.

  • @MrCleanerNash it only makes noise on the 2022 its because of the recoil spring...the good thing is you cant hear it when your putting rounds down range >:-D

  • Hey I hope you respond to this but how did you polish the top side of the barrel on the sig sp2022? I would like to do mine. Thank you

  • @RoadHardOffRoad bro I'll try to put up a vid this weekend stay tuned

  • i want your opinion. on the sig website it shows the 2022 has a thinner slide than the 220. but in real life the 2022 looks a lot thicker. i haven't held them together but the 220 is already to thick for every day carry and i wanted a 2022 for edc cause its a little lighter. but if its thicker then there's no way im buying one. so in your opinion is it thicker or does it just look that way? great review btw, you can also get Steve bedair rods from topgunsupply(.com)

  • I too replaced my stock rod with the steel one on my Sig Pro2022. Got mine off of ebay for $18. My stock one was bent so I went with the steel replacement. I cannot tell any difference when shooting between the two, but i know it will not bend like the stock one.

You probably should have lubed the rod and spring to cut down the friction and noise. I could not see any lube on your spring for the 220 and by the sound of things, there was none on your 2022...jmho

  • @dskize1 Wow you got a great deal on your guide rod ! And yes there wasn't any lube we lubed them both but the 2022 still has a little squeak but not a big deal thanks for the help :)

  • If you don't like the shine of the guide rod then wipe it down with cold blue

  • @AlienZygote010 What's cold blue and how does it work and thanks for the help it's always appreciated

  • @bigrob18772 - Hi, bigrob. Cold Blue is made by several companies, but I suggest Birchwood Casey. It is an oxidizing agent that puts a protective finish on metal. The finish is dark, like gun bluing. But unlike a heat cured finish, cold bluing does not need to bake on. Some stainless steels won't cold blue well - it depends on the chromium content of the steel in question. Given that the guide rod does not look really shiny, it should cold blue well.

  • @AlienZygote010 Thanks for the great info my friend I really do appreciate the tips I'm going to give it a try .... You have a great one :)

  • @bigrob18772 - To use cold blue, you should degrease the item you are bluing. I suggest using fingernail polish remover (acetone). It is cheaper than the expensive gun solvents and works well. Then you let it dry completely and a total wipedown with the degreaser. Acetone is very caustic so it dries quickly. Use gloves when working with acetone or any solvent. That shit will kill your liver. Then you take a rag, I like old socks, and dip it in the cold blue and rub it until it turns black

  • like it nice video good job

  • @wombatbull thanks for the kind words and support :)

  • nice video dude.....apply some balistol on the guide rod;)
