They scrapped the 'song' but not the musical elements - this song obviously became 'Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic'.... wow. Pretty great either way
This is just what I think as an avid listener to all the Police/Sting material..This would probably be sweet if addedinto one of Sting's box set collections or an even better version of The Police's box set as a bonus. would probably cost eleventy hundred dollars from Sting and $100.00 from The Police but what the hell the "UN" recorded stuff is always priceless to any fan.
Man, this and "Don't you look at me" could have easily replaced a couple of what I consider "filler" songs on GITM. Such sweet music. Never recorded, what's up with that? Again I have to ask, was that Sting playing everything, or did Jean Russel play keys?
absolutely, the White Stripes are just an excuse for a bunch of elite hipsters to praise something that's left of center or what "popular". The only song writing credit I can give is to Jack White for coming up with catchy riffs. Can't stand the guys voice though, and the music is easily coverable. The ironic thing is now that the Stripes are popular, the hipsters have found some other "cool underground" band to shower with their intellectual praise.
wow... this could have easily been a favourite of mine had they added it to GITM. just imagine what the touch of steard and andy could have done to this already amazing song. a real shame this didn't get recorded properly.
It's a shame that Sting, Stewart and Andy didn't look at their back catalogue of unreleased demo material and use it to create a new album following the 2007/08 reunion tour. As the Beatles discovered with "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love" on the Anthology album that new/old songs add to their catalogue without destroying their legacy.
From listening to the song as hard as I could, it sounds like a dream Sting had, where perhaps his estranged girlfriend doesn't recognize him, or something along those lines. Sounds like a prelude to Every Breath You Take.
What's that line before "...everything is going fine."?
Very 80s sound. Are they using a drum machine and synthesiser base? I think the song would be really good if they used more traditional instruments. And you cannot hear Copeland showing off his skills.
This new way of approaching Plato neither sees Plato's words as doctrines according to which the dialogues are to be interpreted, nor does it reduce Plato's dialogues to dramatic literature. It places the focus of philosophical investigation of Plato's dialogues on the content of the dialogues themselves, and on the Socratic way of doing philosophy.
Its funny to hear the bottom pile of Police stuff, I enjoy the nostalgia for a moment. But I can tell why this would have never made it: it sounds too much like every other 80's tune.
I do agree with you..you consider what made it to the albums and you can see why this didn't..but the others - "don'tgive up your daytime job" and "don't think we could ever be friends" should have
I agree with POLICEchout - this is the best of the unreleased songs. At the very least it could have been a B-side. It's better than Shambelle or Flexible Strategies.
"Shambelle" is an Andy track and "Flexible Strategies" came out of a jam involving all the band. I get the impression that they often used the b-sides to release tracks by Andy ("Friends", "Someone To Talk To") or Stewart ("A Sermon") as a way of redressing the balance, since their songs often made way for Sting's stuff on the albums.
But yes, some of this stuff really should've been recorded by the band...
this is what i've waited years for: great unreleased police demos. this particular song is very fine: funky bass, typical catchy vocals - i love it when he says "same as you" as an aside. more steps towards exploring the sting mystery (though stu and andy are sorely missed in the perfecting stage -maybe they could do it NOW!!!) thank you very much, POLICEchout
Thanks for potsing this , kinda funny , this is a really good song!! the verse sounds like "every little thing she does" , but the chorus is really cool .

I wish more people would say that about the White Stripes. I did, and got stampeded by ten million musical know-nothings.

I meant some more-or-less talented musician can play those demos and record them for later listening pleasure.

Try to sing these lyrics to the first part of this tune "A stones's throw from Jerusalem I walked a lonely mile in the moonlight"...
Sting didn't lose track of this piece of melody, since he used it in "Mad about you".
I'm quite sure traces of the chorus might be found somewhere else.
