In Southeast Asia, the Chinese speak Hokkien, but due to China's influence, the educational policy endorses Mandarin now as well. Singaporeans nowadays are more likely to speak Mandarin than Hokkien. Hongkongese people complain that everything's translated to Mandarin in their hometown
