  • Lmao!! pinch off the basil leaves gently..meanwhile shes ripping them off like an animal lmao!

  • the h is silent.

  • It's herbs or urbs, but you wouldn't call anybody Urbert.

  • further to my language lessons :P

i'm no expert, but i've always been told to TEAR basil not chop it

  • @Emokid84 yes it releases more flavor if you tear it, when you eat it fresh but if you cook it than it doesn't matter.

  • You guys are being very rude. The H in herbs is silent. I guess everyone says it different but yes it is supposed to sound like "erbs". Im an american, english is my native tongue.

  • @TheMelBauer i'm ENGLISH and english is my native tongue, and the H in herbs should be pronounced, or at least it is in england.

sorry not trying to be an ass, just pointing out that in england the h is pronounced. i know in american english its different though. it really is like two different languages :P

  • @Emokid84 I live in America, and I've heard of that. I don't understand why we decided to drop the H; it really doesn't make sense...

  • Damn, thats a stupid way to chop basil.. You should roll the leaves together and then start start cutting. You get much more equal sizes, and its easier to hold on to.

  • since when is the H silent?Americans just speak how they want to huh

  • Language evolves and mutates. It has nothing to do with arrogance, though you are being a prick about it. And I'm Canadian and pronounce it "herb". Brits pronounce aluminum "aluminium" and no one gets on their ass. Prick...

  • the H is silent you Herb!

  • Grab a dictionary and learn.
