so Americans (and maybe other english speaking countries) watched this version and not the swedish original one? I thought they'd just dubbed those ones.. I mean, the original of something is always the best ones... I bet this one is really good.. but the music and stuff in the original swedish one is soooooo much better x) but I guess we all love the things we grow up with
Listening to this song brings tears to my eyes why can't we just go back to those days for just a day, an hour, or even a minute what happened to this world?
Was this really necessary? Looks like commercial over-kill for profit.
The 60s films with Inger Nielsen were much more genuine and heart warming. This trailer suggests a medium budget, over-the-top Disney-like exploitation.
ai a cena dela descendo a parede me marcou de um tanto, acho q eu assisti esse filme quando eu tinha uns 4 anos e nunca me esqueci. pippi meia longa é incrivel!
I realize now that this isn't a very good movie but I still love it mostly because it makes me nostalgic for my childhood. It's also bad in a fun sort of way rather than just bad.
Has anyone looked up the actress/model Tami Erin who played Pippi to see what she looks like now? Whoa. She even has a line of clothes inspired by Pippi Longstocking.
my god i watched this when i was a kid on a tape i was searching for years and years and know i ve found it at last!love this great story and characters :)
omg america ruined it...pippi longstocking, seriously?? Pippi långstrump with that fun swedish voice and great acting from Inger Nillson... nothing could ever live up to that... if someone here thinks that they know the true pippi from watching this as a child...they don't know what they've missed...
@sheenasasheenasa this was the first pippi movie i saw as a kid, but i feel you! i saw the originals when i got older, they were awesome too! nothing compares the originals with most movies and music.
i havent seen this movie since i was a young kid, i would watch the movie just about everyday and drive my parents crazy watching it. it was the best movie i have ever seen in years
This may sound weird...but I think back to this movie every so often, even now. I've yet to see it(or any scenes, until today, watching this) since then...and because of that I've maintained a certain nostalgic reverence of what I remember it to be like. There's so much magic in this movie. For some reason, I remember the "trinkets" throughout the movie. I think of those...the sounds they made...how they looked...even to this day. it immediately connects me to childhood
yup. this is the Pippi that i remember. It was fun when I was a kid. Though, now that I see the original Swedish series (with Pippi being played as a younger girl), this just seems to be a fake, hollywood version that doesn't have half the "heart" the original one does. Could've done without the songs too..
If you think this version is bad (I like this version almost as much as the original), the 1997 animated version from Nelvana is *even worse.* Had Hayao Miyazaki been allowed to do his aborted Pippi Longstocking movie project back in 1971, we could've gotten a superior animated version. (Even Swedish fans think so!)
This movie partly seems more like a remake of PIPPI ON THE RUN (which was not based on any of the books), where Pippi takes on some more magical talents.
@Urvy1A The Nelvana animated movie/series was, in several words, boring, dull, and painfully pedestrian. Even the 1988 movie was infinitely superior to that, let alone the original 1969 Swedish TV series & movies!
