    1) For Oval Racing, make all drivers pass on the outside. No inside passing. If you are not passing, then you must stay in your inner lane that is painted on the track. PAINT 3 LANES ON EVERY OVAL, like the ones human athletes run on at the Olympics.

Any driver who moves one tire into an outer lane without trying to pass another car is automatically called for BLOCKING. These painted lanes and rules will allow for the most opportunties to pass.

  • @UltimateWheelman

    2) For Road Racing, PAINT 2 LANES GOING INTO AND OUT OF EVERY TURN. You must pass on the outer lane only. If you are not passing, then you must stay in your inner lane. If any of your tires cross the line into the outer lane, then you are automatically called for BLOCKING. So, the driver must SLOW DOWN if needed to stay in his lane.

This eliminates one driver from taking up the entire width of the track going into a turn and prevent passing.

    3) For Street courses , some city governments might have a problem with painting lanes. So, here you make 2 (or even, 3) alternative half-mile paths (or FORKS) in the course, so that drivers must choose one particular path for each lap. These alternate paths eventually join back together.

What this does is split up the traffic and allow for at least, some overtaking.

  • @3338MAN Your comments to berkeyka are quite interesting. I don't rule out the possibility of "scammed contrivances" or fixing races. With a sport (Champ Car & IRL) that has been constantly losing advertising dollars and audiences over the past few years, that is quite possible. After all, professional wrestling has done very well over the decades by fixing or staging their fights.

  • berkeyka, seriously, you're a sphincter probe. This is a serious rumor, and I say rumor because I cannot substantiate the IRL mole. But I can substantiate the reporter, my friend, and he has stated the IRL has scammed contrivances since 2005. As for Penske and championships, Roger has been in on these since Danica's win at Motegi, maybe before that. His payoff is higher horsepower Honda's and a wink and and a nod on development issues. You are all naieve fans. The IRL is a sham. A fake.

  • @3338MAN That's highly unlikely. Penske would never sacifice the Championship.

By finishing 2nd instead of 1st, Will Power got -10 points.

By finishing 1st instead of 3rd, Scott Dixon got +15 points (net +25 over Will Power).

By finishing 3rd instead of 4th, Dario Franchitti got +3 (net +13 over Will Power.)

Considering how the Championship has come down to the final race the past several seasons. that should be enough points to cost Will Power the overall 2010 Championship.

  • NOW HEAR THIS!!!!! Rumor, serious rumor, that the whole thing was a planned fake. Seriously! There is an investigative reporter from a major newspaper putting together a story on the IRL in an attempt to reveal the financials over the histroy of the league. This reporter has a mole at the IRL. That mole said this whole "blocking" thing was a set-up and they knew Helio had the "acting" tools to pull it off. This was a contrivance to steal headlines from the Brickyard 400. That was the IRL plan.

  • @3338MAN Seriously, you're a moron.

  • So, as you see, drivers and team owners had over a year to complain, but they didn't. Instead Barnhart, reminded drivers of the rule at every driver's meeting for over a year.

Remember, it wasn't long ago that Graham Rahal was called for blocking Dario Franchitti, who was going to pass him on the inside going into a turn in the 2010 Indy 500. Otherwise, Graham would have been on the podium for that race, as the drive-thru penalty cost Graham about a lap and he finished on the lead lap.

  • Barnhart also said

“You have to keep in mind why the rule is there in the first place, and our rule against blocking is there from a safety aspect – the inherent danger of open-wheel cars making contact – and we’re also trying to improve the entertainment value. When you road race as often as we do, by the nature of these tracks they don’t have a lot of passing zones. If you allow cars to defend and take away the only passing lane, you’re going to have a boring event.”

  • @chiefsittingbull2 The events are boring now BECAUSE there is no ACTION. How can seeing a few easy overtakes be more exciting than seeing a few hard fought overtakes? What's more exciting, catching 100 goldfish, or catching 1 great white shark?

  • @manwithface10,

“It wasn’t a difficult call to make,” Barnhart said. “We have made it perfectly clear for well over a year, especially on road course racing, from the braking point to entry a driver is not to be on the inside half of the turn unless he’s overtaking someone. If you’re down there while under attack from someone else, you’re blocking. We’re supposed to enforce the rules as they’re written and we clearly did......"

  • Blocking is SO bad in F1, especially GP2 that they're FINALLY cracking down on it saying 2 moves is illegal. Helio made 2 moves. I like Indycars new split track rule. If you aren't driving in your mirrors blocking and take the fast correct line the guy won't be able to pass you anyway. If you block inside and crawl around the inside of the turn you might get slammed by someone taking the correct fast line from outside or bottleneck everyone up. Blocking sucks and holds back faster drivers.

  • Should have been a position swap as standard practice although since this type of blocking could cause a wreck its understandable they might insist on a drive thru. Without this new rule drivers could block almost all passes which forces passes on the outside which wouldn't work. Splitting up the track promotes passing and if the leader blocks by staying inside and crawling around the corner without swinging wide hed go SO slow drivers taking the right line would hit him or crash trying not to.

  • If you want to watch RACING, give a thumbs up.

If you wish to continue watching Brian Barnharts MANIPULATED car show, give a thumbs down.

  • Move back a position? R u kidding Will? I just lost a ton of respect for this guy. It's racing you retards, ur not supposed to just gift the lead to someone. Helio's not a pussy like the other 25 racers on the grid (Kanaan exempt), so why would he just concede a position. There was NO blocking. The IRL is a fuckin joke. Lame ass series that's not even watchable anymore

  • He's such a nice guy :)

  • Will Power was absolutely 100% correct. Technically, Helio did block him on the "inside half of the super-wide airport track", just before going into turn 1.

According to rules, you can't do that. So, in fact, Helio took a win away from his teammate Will Power and quite possibly, cost Will Power the 2010 championship.

  • @chiefsittingbull2 Why cant you block the inside? This series had gotten so bad that drivers cant even choose there own line into the corner. Its not even racing anymore. Its basically a parade of cars under the control of Brian Barnhart... HE HAS TO GO

  • Oh give over Will, you were pants in A1GP when the cars were equal, that was Helios race....Idycar has lost a fan here unless they change their bullshit rules....

  • @KingLukas00 Like wise bud.

  • @rockfantasysteve maybe the officials were expecting helio to pull off into the grass so will could win again?

  • Not your fault Will that the rule sux and Helio didn't follow it. Chin up mate :D
