Fantastic skill and professionalism, truly inspiring flying - we have similar 'mountain slope' runways here in Africa where you end up parking higher up than what your approach altitude was, not only special aviators but special airplanes make these landings possible.
I have to share with this with my brother, he is an aviator and he would find this interesting i beleive, who doesnt like a new challenge everyday, im amazed with the very idea that has been turned into reality by these man and woman

80 year old man lands in Paris Airport, French man asks to see his pasport , Old man looks at him funny, The French man say's everytime you enter France you must show your passport to a French offical, old man says didnt last time I was here, French man laughs in his face and asks when this was and why, old man says 1945 when I ran up your beach we couldnt find any of you to show them to now fuck off
I know of a B200 that landed but.. he broke the wings so badly the engines touched the ground hell of a "Hard Landing" To recover the plane they had to saw off the wings remove the tail for the transport. After straightening the fuselage and a new wing from Raytheon the airplane flew again 2 years later!

Reminds me of that scene in Air America where they land the Pilatus on the side of the mountain. Of course, this is not a Pilatus, that would have been easier.
Great flying but there is one serious and potential risk in the pilots procedures, the airfield is at 6,500 feet and on his short approach he takes the mixture to full rich! This can pontentially cause a power loss at that altitude, not a very good idea!! I think the Doc. needs to rethink this. All The Best Everyone , Chris from San Diego , ATP
It shouldn't be scary if you checked the performance graph (aircraft manual) to see if you are in the safe envelope for take off or landing! All The Best Wolpjame, Chris from San Diego, ATP
This is very tricky, due to the short runway you do not want to approach to fast cause your gear might come off if you hit to hard but secondly you need to have a decent speed cause else you will not make it to the top of the slope, roll back and fall down into the valley ^^
he made a potentially dangerous move by putting them mixtures rich at such an high altitude he could of lost an engine which then he will be fucked as one engine wont keep him up in the air
The Baron has like the Bonanza mixture control which compensates for pressure altitude if I remember correctly, hence selecting the mix at rich is in this case correct.
I recomend not to go by automatic mode as the automatic mixture control compensation might not work in such a critical landing!( remember the old saying, if it can it will, just a matter of time) I would rather put my life in a standard procedure format in this case. All The Best mpjswart, Chris from San Diego, ATP
There is no choice between manual or automatic mode in this case. It's just as it is I'm afraid. You are damn right about the 'main stream' types of engines like the ones on an Arrow 4. I'd made a mistake once near the Mont Blanc at 11000 feet, I've put the mix at rich to climb a bit more and after a huge puff and a few involutary heart beats, I decided to lean a bit.

Damn, when the pilot was just passing over the runway threshold it looked like he was going to rip off the landing gear. That was pretty damn close though!
